Skill Analysis
Gragas is kind of a very durable tank. He has high base health, and can also be fully built like a tank, but that build path is not that optimal and is not as useful, as his magic damage build path. He requires mainly damaged items and is very good at engaging and disengaging in fights. His 1v1 dueling is not as great, but he makes up for it with his team-fighting ultimate. In this Gragas guide, we are going to see how her abilities in LoL Wild Rift work and when you should use which skill to be in the best shape in the current ranked season.
Passive – Happy Hour
This passive enables Gragas to heal for 39 health, whenever he casts an ability, which is 6% scaling with health. It is very useful for him, since he is an ability power-based champion, and casts his abilities very frequently. It provides him with great sustain and helps him to hold his own in the lane against stronger champions.
Ability 1 – Barrel Roll
Gragas rolls a cask to a target location. This ability works in two ways:
- Players can immediately press the ability again to make the cask explode as soon as it is in position.
- One can roll the cask to its location and let it sit there, for up to 1.5 to 3 seconds.
When one immediately presses the ability, it deals 65 magic damage to enemies (65+ 70% scaling with ability power), and the enemies hit are slowed by 30% for 2 seconds.
If players let the cask sit there, allowing it to “ferment”, in which the damage and slow amount increase by up to 150%, over the first 1.5 seconds. Thus, whenever possible, players must try to target the enemies in a way, where players are able to let the cask sit for 1.5 seconds, so that they are slowed for the maximum amount, and take the maximum possible damage.
Ability 2 – Drunken Rage
Gragas guzzles down brew from his cask for 1 second. After finishing, he becomes drunkenly empowered, dealing magic damage to all nearby enemies on his next basic attack and reducing the damage received.
This ability reduces damage taken by 8% (8+0.04% scaling with Ability Power) for 2.5 seconds. Within 5 seconds after drinking, the next attack is empowered to splash nearby enemies for bonus magical damage equal to 20 (20+65% scaling with Ability Power) plus 7% of their maximum health. When in a sticky situation, this ability can help with damage reduction, and the Area of Effect damage is a nice bonus on top.
Ability 3 – Body Slam
Gragas rushes forward, colliding with the first enemy hit to deal 80 magic damage (80+ 60% scaling with ability power) to the nearby enemies in an area. All the enemies hit are also bumped backward, stunning them for 1 second.
Body Slam’s cooldown is reduced by 3 seconds if Gragas successfully collides with an enemy. This ability is a great engagement ability, and it also helps Gragas to escape in case the going gets tough.
Ultimate – Explosive Cask
The cask that Gragas hurls explodes on landing, knocking all enemies away from the explosion’s center. It deals 200 magic damage (200+70% scaling with Ability Power). Explosive Cask works best in choke points, and in the objective pits around the Dragon and Baron. This scatters the enemy, allowing the team to clean up and get the lead. This ability can also help to enable Yasuo‘s ultimate.
Skill Up Methods for Gragas
Gragas’s skill level-up order is as follows:
- 1st Ability (Barrel Roll): Level 1, 4, 6, 7.
- 2nd Ability (Drunken Rage): Level 2, 12, 14, 15.

- Ultimate Ability (Explosive Cask): Level 5, 9, 13.
Best Rune Setups and Spells for Gragas in Wild Rift
Rune Setup
Gragas works best with this rune setup in the Baron lane:
Keystone Rune – Electrocute
Electrocute works when players deal damage with 3 separate attacks or abilities in 3 seconds. Gragas is all about quick and impactful combos, and this helps to proc Electrocute, thus, dealing more damage to the enemy.

This combined with the Ability Power scaling, makes Gragas deal an insane amount of damage, and makes Electrocute the best keystone rune for him.
Brutal
Brutal helps Gragas in the early game when he needs to wave clear and good early damage. It also helps him against lane bullies. Since it gives Gragas adaptive damage, it is useful against both attack damage (AD) and Ability Power (AP) champions. This is, overall, a great rune for him.
Adaptive Carapace
Adaptive Carapace is a solid rune. This protects against both AD and AP damage. When players are below 50% healthy, they can gain either Armor or Magic Resist, depending, on the type of damage. Players have taken right before Adaptive Carapace activates.
If the enemy is either full AD-based or full AP-based, this rune is a must-have. Along with resistances like Armor and Magic Resist, Adaptive Carapace provides bonus max health, further increasing Gragas’s tankiness.
Sweet Tooth
It is the single best rune for Gragas, without a doubt. He requires some pretty expensive items, and Sweet Tooth’s extra gold helps him to get those items a little bit faster. It provides great healing, so, it is a win-win situation. It is a must-have in almost every game.
Summoner Spells
Flash
This is pretty self-explanatory. Players must always be useful when players want to engage or escape. This is a required summoner spell on Gragas.
Ignite
The best spell for finishing off an enemy, who is in very low health and is trying to escape. Also, the best spell against matchups requires a lot of healing. Ignite applies Grievous Wounds (Healing reduction) to the enemy.

- Rabadon’s Deathcap: It is a piece of pure, unhindered, raw power. Not only, it does give 120 ability power, which is already a huge deal, but it also increases the Ability power by 40%. This is the most damage-oriented magic item.
- Lucidity Boots (Stasis Enchant): Lucidity Boots help to reduce Gragas’s ability cooldowns, and the Stasis Enchant buys some time, in case players should get caught unexpectedly.

League Of Legends: Wild Rift Gragas Gameplay Tips
Playing Gragas is fun because he is a balanced champion and isn’t broken or overpowered. He is decent in the early game, and once the teamfights begin, he is a monster. It is necessary to make sure that whenever players play Gragas. One should stay with the team, as he is a terrible split pusher and does not apply as much pressure in the side lanes. Keeping all this in mind, our Wild Rift Gragas Guide includes the perfect game plan for the early, mid and late game.
Early Game
Due to his passive, Gragas can hold his own in the lane and do decent damage with the different combos that he can perform.
Image via Riot Games
A classic early game combo is Ability 2 + Ability 3 + Basic attack, which can proc Electrocute and deal massive damage to the enemy. Players must keep poking and slowing the enemy with Ability 1. This will ensure that they do not fall behind in lane.
Mid Game
When the mid-game begins, Gragas should stay with his team, and help with objectives around the map. His engagement and disengage potential are really good. Therefore, it is important to participate in every teamfight with him. Other than that, players must make sure to clear waves with him, wherever they are building up, as they can cause a problem for the towers if left unchecked. Due to his Area of Effect abilities, he is good at doing the aforementioned.
Late Game
If there is an objective on the map, one must rotate to it with the team. One must stay with the team and always participate in a fight.

We cannot stress this enough, with the build mentioned above, players can two-shot squishy, low-health enemy carries with a perfect combo. One does fall off in the very late game, so be mindful of that.

Final Thoughts
Gragas is, overall, a solid Baron lane pick in Wild Rift. He is a good addition in all team compositions and can be built tanky as well. Due to being balanced, he is not a big target for nerfs from the balance team, so he is also a pretty reliable one-trick Rabble champion. We hope players can take advantage of all these tips and climb the ranked ladder with the Rabble Rouser!
