TikTok swaps TuneCore for FUGA as SoundOn distribution partner

With a  recent launch in Australia  (alongside a test to remove some major label music from its app) and  a deal with Snoop Dogg’s Death Row , TikTok’s SoundOn distribution arm is enjoying a busy start to 2023. Now it has emerged that the company has switched partners for SoundOn too. MBW reported  that TikTok’s deal with TuneCore, which was the partner for SoundOn from its beta tests in the autumn of 2021 into  its launch in March 2022 , has now come to an end. FUGA has apparently been on board since September, providing the pipes to distribute SoundOn artists’ music to non-ByteDance services including Spotify and Apple Music. It has been a relatively cautious rollout for TikTok’s in-house distributor so far: it’s available in the UK, US, Brazil, Indonesia and now Australia. Written by: Stuart Dredge
