Charging up an electric vehicle’s battery at an EV charging port

Electric vehicles (EVs) are purely powered by electricity and are known as the cars of the future. These eco-friendly vehicles have no tailpipe emissions and can go up to 300 miles on a single charge. An EV charger pulls electrical current from a grid, much like any other electrical charger, and delivers it to the designated place, in this instance, the electric vehicle. Depending on the size of the car’s battery, and the charging point’s speed, it can take anywhere from half an hour to 12 hours to fully charge up an electric vehicle’s battery. For example, a 7kW charging port can completely fill up a 60kWh electric car battery in around eight hours.
Charging stations, also known as EV charge ports, are starting to become increasingly available at gas stations and at other designated locations, including parking areas and many other public places. Most of these charging stations provide free charging for electric vehicles. Even restaurants and other businesses have started offering their customers EV charging.
