On July 4th 2018, the Smeraldo blog became active again. If you don’t know much (or anything) about this “Smeraldo blog”, the blog was originally created in 2017 on July 4th. No one knew this blog existed until August 9th, when Jin posted a mysterious selfie of him holding flowers with “Smeraldo” as the caption. This led some people to search up Smeraldo, and that led some to the Smeraldo blog. Detective ARMYs started noticing connections to this blog & BTS, and once that happened, well, here we are.

The main reason I’m writing this is because I need a place I can refer back to & keep all this Smeraldo information easily accessible & neat, so everything related is going to be compiled here. I’m also hoping that this post will benefit new ARMYs who need some catching up, and for ARMYs who’ve been trying to keep up but are feeling lost.

An important thing to note before reading is that the Smeraldo blog, along with all people and places mentioned in the blog, are fictional. Even the Smeraldo flower itself doesn’t really exist. This is all a part of BigHit’s crazy and brilliant story telling. It’s been obvious for years now that BigHit’s full of creative geniuses, but this is pretty next level if you ask me. ✽July 4th: The creation of the Smeraldo blog.

✽July 10th: [1st Story] ‘A fateful encounter with Smeraldo: the prologue’.

✽August 3rd-August 9th: The blog announced an event asking people to send in their sincere stories about “truths they couldn’t tell” with the deadline being August 15th. 7 winners will be chosen & Testesso will send Smeraldo Flowers to the loved ones that the winners mentioned in their letters that they couldn’t convey their feelings to (at this point I’m not sure of the exact date of the event announcement, hence the “3rd-9th”).

✽August 15th: [8th Story] ‘I got the first official order for Smeraldos’.

✽August 22nd: ‘The event winner announcement’ (apparently real winners were chosen and a bouquet of “Smeraldo flowers” along with a letter (suspected by some to be written in Jin’s handwriting) were sent out for each).

✽August 30th: [9th Story] ‘Today, I will finally deliver Smeraldo’.

✽September 2nd: ‘I’m closing everything indefinitely’.

✽July 4th: Exactly 1 year from the blog’s creation, the blog removed their previous post about closing, and the BU logo has been added to their header.

✽July 10th: [1st Story] (same as 2017’s minus 1 difference: The Flower Shop’s opening is set for “the end of August”, in 2017 it was “mid September” (‘LY: Her’ was released Sept. 18th, ‘LY: Answer’ is set for August 24th).

✽August 22nd: [9th Story] ‘Information regarding the opening’ (in 2017, the 9th story was posted on August 30th and was about delivering Smeraldo bouquets to the contest winners, but this time it’s about opening up shop at Jamsil Stadium on the 25th (where/when BTS’ LY concert was held in Seoul – fans were able to buy Smeraldo merch there)).

✽July 17th: [4th Story] (same as 2017/2018’s 3rd story ‘How a Smeraldo was found?’ and posted on the same day, but since there was a new date on the 15th that’s considered the 3rd story, the original story numbers are now a bit off).

✽August 22nd: [10th Story] ‘Got to attend Fireworks Festival’ (different from 2017/2018, in 2018 the blog was about opening shop at Jamsil Stadium on the 25th (where fans were able to buy Smeraldo merch in real life at BTS’ LY concert in Seoul), this year it says the shop will open “next block of Moonhyun Dongil Cinema” on August 25th (‘Dynamite’ B-side MV release) and also mentions a Fireworks Festival being held on August 30th (BTS’ ‘Dynamite’ debut performance at the VMAs, also the date of the Seoul International Fireworks Festival that was cancelled due to Covid) that will be decorated with Smeraldos. The florist says they hope to see us at both locations).

✽September 3rd: [11th Story] ‘Thank you to those who gave interest in Smeraldo!’ (The florist thanks everyone for their support on the 25th & 30th, and mentions that they will be closing the blog for now to focus on running the Smeraldo shop).

That’s where we’re at for now. I’ll continue to update this blog as more becomes available. In the meantime, here’s a great analysis thread & a thread with extra details if you want to read more.

I personally find the Smeraldo blog so fascinating, as well as the entirety of the story BigHit & BTS have been telling. From the Highlight Reels to the HYYH notes, MVs, and more, I’m so curious to see how this all unfolds. Hopefully we’ll get all our questions answered in ‘Answer’ xx One would certainly expect so, but when it comes to BigHit, it seems the best thing to do is to expect the unexpected. I guess we’ll find out soon enough if everything is going to finally be explained & make sense, or if we’re just going to be left with more questions & theories (update: it’s the latter;;).
