The Smallest Pressure Cooker for 2023

Sometimes those big pressure cookers are just way to big.

I know, I love using my tiny pressure cooker, just like the ones featured on this page, to cook small batches of food like rice or beans.

The thing is most of the time you are not canning jar after jar of food or pressure cooking five pound roasts. Some people just want a mini pressure cooker for making baby food or a couple servings of beans.

In my home we cook a lot of rice. I like cooking rice every time we eat so that it’s fresh and so that our fridge is not overflowing with cooked food. This of course means I’m always working on a batch of rice at dinner time and sometimes that rice is the longest thing to cook.

Unless you use a pressure cooker to cook rice of course!

Going to Get Myself a Mini Pressure Cooker

I have been thinking about using a really small pressure cooker to cook my rice instead of my normal stovetop method which tastes great but takes a lot of time.

For this I could use a rice maker but a pressure cooker (even a tiny pressure cooker) is so much more versatile to keep in the kitchen.

Overall stove top pressure cookers are much smaller than their electric counterparts. In fact electric cookers don’t tend to be any smaller than 5 quarts which is still kind of big if you are only cooking a small amount of food.

The Smallest Pressure Cooker Sold

The Hawkins CB15 Hard Anodised Pressure Cooker, 1.5-Liter, Contura Black
This is the smallest stovetop pressure cooker I’ve ever seen. It is only 1.5 liter/quart and is perfect for cooking small portion sizes. The quality of this pressure cooker is as good as it gets and the price isn’t too bad either. I would get this tiny pressure cooker in a heartbeat if I didn’t already have a 2 quart model.

What’s the smallest ELECTRIC Pressure Cooker?

The smallest electric pressure cooker I know is the Instant Pot Duo Mini 3 quart.

You can use it for many Instant Pot recipes and it’s perfect for singles, couples and small families.

It’s also great when you are using the regular 6 quart Instant Pot to make chicken or beef, and in the same time use the small one above to make jasmine rice or quinoa as a side dish.

As I searched for really little pressure cookers I quickly started looking at only the stove top varieties. For one they took up way less storage space and the capacities of the models really get a lot smaller than the electric options.

Stovetop Pressure Cookers Are the Smallest

So as I mentioned before, the smallest pressure cooker I know of is the Hawkins CB15 Hard Anodized Pressure Cooker. It’s only 1.5 liters which is only a bit more than 1-quart!!

Hawkins actually has a few really small pressure cookers, they have an older model 1.5 liter model and a couple 2 liter models as well.

If you are looking for options from other brands Prestige offers a couple 2 liter pressure cookers in both stainless steel and aluminum.

If you know exactly what size you are looking to buy I’ve linked to a few pages on this site for specific sized cookers. Have a look below. Once you get over 2 liters or quarts the options available really expand.

Small Pressure Cookers Sorted by Size

Looking for a particular sized pressure cooker. See the following posts for well curated lists.

Isn‘t it super annoying to think of cooking a couple servings of rice in a big 8 quart pressure cooker? Seems like a waste of heat and energy.

There are actually lots of uses for a three quart pressure cookers and although they aren’t the most common size there are some great models to choose from some of the top brands in the business.

know how handy owning a smaller pressure cooker can be though so I’ve gone and found the best 4-qt pressure cookers and featured them right here on the site.

In the upcoming days I will add some 1.5 Liter Pressure Cookers and 2.5 Quart Pressure Cookers.

Lastly, if you are thinking about doing any canning then these will be too small. See this post for the smallest pressure canners on the market.

Thanks for reading, I hope this points you in the right direction!
