The Best Cheap Steam Games Under $10
If you’re looking for some new games to play, but you don’t have the budget to drop ~$60 on a new AAA title, we’ve put together a list of some of the best cheap Steam games under $10 currently available. These games are by no means an end-all-be-all list as there are hundreds of games currently available on Steam for under $10. But, we’ve chosen the games below for how well-received they are and so if you haven’t played them yet they might be worth a go!

Portal & Portal 2
Portal released back in 2007 and Portal 2 released four years later in 2011. Both games are currently $9.99 on Steam and can be bundled together for less than $15. If you’re not familiar with the Portal series, they are both first-person single-player puzzle games published by Valve Corporation in which you must create portals in order to help you move yourself and other objects in an effort to get through the various levels in the game.
Both Portal games took home plenty of awards, including Game of the Year award at the 2008 Game Developers Choice Awards (Portal), the best game overall in Eurogamer’s 2007 rankings of the top 50 games (Portal), the “Ultimate Game of the Year” at the 2011 Golden Joystick Awards (Portal 2), and Gamasutra’s top-rated game for 2011 (Portal 2), to name a few.
Both Portal and Portal 2 currently have a 98% positive user review rating on Steam.
The Room & The Room Two
The Room was released back in 2012 on iOS by Fireproof Games and it hit Steam for the first time in 2014. The follow-up, The Room Two, was released on iOS in 2013 and a few years later in 2016. (There is also The Room Three and it is available on both iOS and Android devices but has not yet made it onto Steam.)
Like the Portal series, The Room and The Room Two are first-person puzzle games that require you to solve a series of puzzle boxes, each of which has complex mechanisms and locks that need to be solved or opened before you can open them. Both games from Fireproof Games have won numerous awards, including a number of awards for the “Best Mobile” games in a variety of categories when it released on iOS and The Room Two also received such awards as getting a perfect score from Hardcore Gamer.
Both The Room and The Room Two currently have a 97% positive user review rating on Steam. Both games currently cost $4.99 on Steam.
Dishonored
Dishonored was developed by Arkane Studios and published by Bethesda back in 2012. Dishonored is a first-person assassin style game that follows Corvo Attano as he seeks revenge on the people who have framed him for the murder of the Empress of the Isles.
The game has won plenty of awards, including being named the Best Action Adventure Game at the 2012 Spike Video Game Awards and an award for the Best Environmental Design from Inside Gaming.
You can pick up Dishonored for $9.99 on Steam right now. There is also Dishonored 2, which was released in 2016 for $39.99. The original Dishonored currently boasts a 96% positive review rating.
Garry’s Mod
Garry’s Mod was developed by Facepunch Studios and published by Valve on Steam all the way back in 2006 (It originally released outside of Steam in 2004). The game is a sandbox-style physics driven game that lets you do whatever you want. There are no missions, goals, or bad guys to defeat. You can create your own objects and NPCs to use to interact with the world as you see fit.
The game won Computer Games Magazine’s and PC Gamer US’s “Best Mod” award in 2005. While the game is well over 10-years-old now, it still maintains a large and active player base.
Garry’s Mod can be purchased on Steam for $9.99 and it currently has a 95% positive user review rating on Steam.
Fallout: New Vegas
Fallout: New Vegas was released back in 2010 and was developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Bethesda. The game takes place in a post-apocalyptic world that spans across Nevada, California, and Arizona. Despite releasing with a number of bugs and glitches (which have since been fixed) the game received mostly positive reviews and critics praised it for its writing and gameplay.
Fallout: New Vegas is currently $9.99 on Steam and has a 95% positive review rating.
GTA 3, Vice City, & San Andreas
The Grand Theft Auto series is one of the most successful video games series of all times. And, if you haven’t played any of the games yet, or you haven’t had a chance to play some of the older games, you can currently get GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas for $3.49 individually, or you can purchase a bundle that includes those three games, as well as Liberty City and GTA 4 for a total of $14.99
As for positive user review ratings on Steam, GTA 3 has an 85% rating, Vice City has a 91% rating, and San Andreas has an 88% rating.
Grim Dawn
Grim Dawn is one of the newer games on this list as it was released in 2016 by Crate Entertainment. It’s a top-down action RPG style game that is based around quests, classes, loot, equipment, crafting, and combat. Among the positives of the game are its player customization options, a huge map, and above-average graphics for this style of game.
You can currently get Grim Dawn for $6.24 on Steam and there are also a couple of different DLCs available for it as well. The game currently has a 91% positive user review rating on Steam.
The Witcher and The Witcher 2
While The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is one of the most well-received games of recent memory, the two iterations that came before it were also well-received. The original Witcher was released back in 2007, with The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings releasing a few years later in 2011. The Witcher Series is developed by CD PROJEKT RED.
Like the overwhelmingly successful The Witcher 3, both The Witcher and The Witcher 3 were nominated for and won many awards. The Witcher 2 itself won over 50 different awards for a variet of categories including 2011 Game of the Year from Shacknews.
The Witcher currently has an 85% positive user review rating on Steam and the Witcher 2 currently has an 88% rating. The original game is currently $1.49 on Steam, with The Witcher 2 coming in at $2.99.
