If you enjoy eating out and trying new Memphis eateries, but you’re on a budget, then this article is for you. We’ve scoured the city for some of the cheapest eats in the area to share our favorites — organized by cuisine type — and we’ve even included a few daily specials to keep an eye out for!

ASIAN

Red Koi

If you’re hungry for sushi or hibachi around lunchtime, Red Koi is the place to be. You can get the Hibachi lunch special starting at $9.95, which comes with clear soup or a house salad, vegetables, and fried rice. Or, if you’re feeling sushi, you can get three rolls for $16.96. It also comes with clear soup or a house salad. Right when you sit down, they also bring out delicious spring rolls!

Mosa Asian Bistro

Mosa Asian Bistro is a locally owned neighborhood restaurant with contemporary style and delicious noodle bowls, rice plates, and more. While everything on the menu is tasty, if you want to grab a few items that won’t break the bank, we recommend the spring roll for $2, lettuce wraps (there are four) for $8, potstickers (there are five) for $7, or the rice combo for $10. Plus, they have happy hour Tuesday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Friday from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

In the mood for some comfort food? Cozy Corner BBQ will fill your stomach … and keep your wallet happy. Our favorites? A two-bone rib plate with bread and two side items for $7.99, or a bbq sliced pork sandwich plate with two sides for $5.99.

With multiple locations around Memphis, there’s likely a Tops BBQ near you, and they have a drive-thru that makes it super convenient. You can get a pork shoulder plate with two sides, bread, and a drink for $9.99, or if you simply want extra sides, you can get bar-b-q beans, fries, or slaw for $1.99 and potato salad for $2.29. Plus, they have burgers starting at $4.99.

Bryant’s Breakfast

Bryant’s Breakfast is one of the best ways to start your morning! You can find their sausage biscuit for $2.25, a chicken biscuit for $4, or a breakfast bowl for $5.50. Plus, don’t forget sides such as grits for $1, three pieces of bacon for $3, or two pieces of sausage for $2.50.

The Pancake Shop

Bring your appetite! The Pancake Shop has “all you can eat” pancakes for $7.95, along with two eggs, three strips of bacon, or two sausage patties or links. Not feeling pancakes? Get the Dixie Pride breakfast with country ham, eggs, hash browns or grits, gravy, and two biscuits for $8.95. And last but not least, if you’ve got a sweet tooth, you can get two pieces of French toast for $3.55.

MEXICAN

If you’ve lived in Memphis for a while, you likely know the hype behind “Las D,” as the locals call it — it’s inexpensive, tasty food that’s always fresh! Tacos are $2.50 and served on two small corn tortillas with fresh onions and cilantro, and their burritos are on a 10″ flour tortilla and served with refried beans and your choice of grilled onions or bell peppers and served with pico and sour cream for $6.50.

It doesn’t have to be Tuesday to dig into some tacos, especially at Maciel’s Tortas Tacos. The best deal on the menu is three tacos with lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, and sour cream. It also comes with rice and beans and starts at $8.75, with the most expensive being $11. Alternatively, if you’re in the mood for just one taco, they are $3.50 each.

SOUTHERN

Barksdale Restaurant

Hope you’re hungry! Barksdale Restaurant offers daily plate specials. You can get one meat, three veggies, and homemade rolls or cornbread for $6.95. Still hungry? Grab a dessert for $1.50.
