“Cheap Thrills” is a song and music video written and directed by Sia herself, the artist you hear in this music video too. At 3.5 minutes, it is relatively short, but that’s not a problem at all. The dance sequences are pretty aesthetic and the use of the color purple combined with black and white was working throughout the entire music video. The song felt a bit generic compared to other stuff from her, but there are parts here and there when she really shines with her voice. I cannot deny that I like Sia. But why would I? Many do. And this short film here is another nice addition to her body of work. It may not be a contender for her best work, but it’s still superior to most other pop songs these days. I recommend the watch and listen. Oh yeah, Maddie Ziegler is of course on board again too.
