Reddit – Dive into anything

My dad’s old and underpowered laptop is pretty much unusable for 30 min after startup. I’ve already disabled superfetch with only slight improvements. It seems to me that it is trying to do stuff online like logging into Microsoft accounts or installing updates so I tried to cut the connection to the internet but then it got even worse and the screen froze. Same result when starting the pc without internet connection just that it freezes when wifi is turned on. Also a completely unrelated problem: the device manager says that the dvd player is not connected. But i don’t thing that’s the case. The drivers are up to date.
