Reddit – Dive into anything

I have a print/file server running on Windows Server 2016. Within the last week for new PCs that I roll out, I am finding that I am getting an error when trying to connect to only some printers (I have found that it is just printers that have PCL6 drivers, I switched one to PS but that didn’t fix it) that says “Add Printer: Connect to Printer: Windows cannot connect to the printer. Access is denied”.

So i go an check event viewer and i see this:

Event 600, Task Category: Client-side Rendering; OpCode: Spooler Operation Failed

“The print spooler failed to import the printer driver that was downloaded from \\(servername)\print$\x64\PCC\hpcu160u.inf_amd64_aa0dc619ec5ee3fd.cab into the driver store for driver HP Universal Printing PCL 6. Error code= 800702e4. This can occur if there is a problem with the driver or the digital signature of the driver.”

This also happens on Sharp MFP printers that are shared as well. I have tried disabling/enabling point and print restrictions, but that has done nothing. I have found a workaround though. I have to login to the computer as an admin, install the printer from the same share that I was attempting before, and it will work without an issue. Then I log back in as the user and it installs fine. Any ideas?
