Reddit – Dive into anything
Hey guys.
I am thinking about organizing the clutter in my home office and put my server, IoT , Storage and routing equipment on a small rack/server cabinet. Right now everything is dispersed through several areas of my home office and I want to tidy up a notch.
I have looked into the Startech 9U rack (RK960CP) to host the following equipment which I think should be enough:
-
HP Elitedesk 800G2 (server specs in case of interest are: i5 6500, 32GB DDR4, GT730, 1TB SSD, 2 TB HDD, Proxmox Hypervisor);
-
Turris Omnia (with OpenWRT atm)
-
Synology DS220J
-
Iomega IX2
-
UPS from salicru
-
Possibly a raspberri Pi (thinking of getting one)
-
Ikea tradfri bridge
-
Small TP Link 8 port managed switch
In the future I might replace the Turris with a Unifi setup (Dreamachine Pro and a couple APs) but I guess the server rack can accommodate it no problem.
The only problem with the Startech unit is its price, around 550€ (in Europe). I would still need to add up shelves which are on the expensive side as well. Thus it is an overkill for what I use it for. Is there a cheaper alternative? What are you guys using/adapting?
Cheers
