Ocean Network Express | Projects | Gensler

Ocean Network Express is a major new global container shipping company that emerged from the legacy of three Japanese liner companies. Their new office combines the best practices of the three companies and fosters a high-quality service in a competitive market.

With the concept ‘Smart Box as Container,’ the project aimed to create a showcase facility while enhancing teamwork and collaboration among the staff. The Gensler design team drew inspiration from the idea of a water route, the method by which containers cross the sea. In order to boost communication frequency among the workers, collaboration space was created in an open area with the desks set at a higher elevation than an average working desk. This gives workers the same eye height when seated, making it easier to see eye-to-eye with their coworkers as they walk by.
