Last Day on Earth: Survival tips and tricks
Below, we’ve listed the tips, tricks, and cheats necessary for survival in Last Day on Earth. © Kefir!
Scavenging
One of the first things you should do when you spawn in Last Day on Earth is scavenge for supplies. On the ground, you’ll notice a variety of supplies available including sticks, grass, and rocks, among other things. On the bottom left corner, there’s an “auto” button that’s particularly useful when it comes to scavenging. By activating the auto button, you’ll prompt your character to scavenge items in the area on their own without you needing to guide them and click the “grab” button.
By gathering items, you’ll not only be able to level up your character, but you’ll also have the materials needed to craft items like a Hatchet or Pickaxe. Now that’s a handy Last Day on Earth: Survival tip!
Crafting
After you scavenge enough items, you’ll want to try your hand at crafting in Last Day on Earth.

Once you’ve mastered the art of scavenging in Last Day on Earth, you’ll need to make use of your crafting abilities. One of the best things to craft is a home. This can be done by tapping the construction button below your minimap. After you click the button, a grid will open up and building options will appear down at the bottom. To craft a home, you’ll need to put down flooring first, then walls. Each floor and wall costs one pine log each, so if you don’t have enough, you’ll need to scavenge more.
To make your home functional, you’ll need to craft items such as a Campfire, Small Box (which lets you store 12 items), and a Garden Bed (which lets you grow carrots that bump up your food supply).
Exploration
Before you can begin exploring the map in Last Day on Earth, be sure to craft a Basic Backpack.

With scavenging, crafting, and home building out of the way, the next step towards mastering Last Day on Earth is exploration. After you reach level 2, you’ll be able to craft a Basic Backpack which expands your inventory by 8 item spaces. Before you craft the Basic Backpack, you’re reliant on your jacket which has limited amounts of storage space. Until you craft a Basic Backpack, you should stick inside the green safe area.
Once your Basic Backpack is crafted and you’re ready to head out, you’ll want to pay attention to the location indicator above an area which tells you the “density” of that area. The higher the density, the more materials and resources you’ll find. Unfortunately, high-density areas also contain more zombies, many of whom are tougher than the ones you’ll encounter in your green safe spawn area. Until you craft better weapons and armor, you’ll want to keep yourself within green safe areas (basically, don’t wander too far).
Army Drops and Military Bases
Be on the lookout for army supply crate drops and Military Bases, as these contain superb loot in Last Day on Earth.

While playing Last Day on Earth, you’ll likely encounter army supply crate drops and Military Bases. Both of these are Points of Interest in Last Day on Earth. Points such as supply crate drops are time sensitive and will disappear after a set amount of time. If you’re able, you’ll want to hunt these crates down in order to snag some high-quality loot. In addition, you’ll encounter Military Bases which are fixed Points of Interest (meaning they don’t disappear).
You’ll need a Security Key Card in order to explore these Military Bases, and you can typically acquire one from dead zombies and/or players. Inside these Military Bases are supplies and valuable resources (like weapons) so also try and explore them if you’re able.
Combat
Combat is essential to staying alive in Last Day on Earth.

Combat in Last Day on Earth is unavoidable. All around you are dangerous zombies as well as hostile players. In order to survive in Last Day on Earth, you’ll need to be prepared for a fight at all times. One of the first weapons you can craft is a Spear. This weapon is rather slow, and is best used on zombies for experience. In other instances, you’ll want to use sneak attacks to prevent your opponent from getting the first swing. To perform a sneak attack, you’ll need to tap the Crouch button on the bottom right corner.
While Crouched, you’re harder to spot. Use this to your advantage and move up behind an enemy before swinging. This will result in a deadly strike, one that may instantly kill lesser enemies like zombies and other new (unprepared) players. To avoid excess combat (in the event you’re injured) pay attention to your minimap. If you spot a red dot heading straight for you, run. This blip is either a Fast Biter or enemy player. Because you don’t know which one you’re dealing with, you’ll want to circle around and sneak attack them, or let them be and head in a different direction.
Leveling Up
The higher you level up, the more opportunities and options you’ll have for surviving in Last Day on Earth.

Finally, when levelling up is crucial to mastering Last Day on Earth: Survival. The higher your level, the better your blueprints and craft items are. Furthermore, you’ll have more health and options available to you. As such, try and reach level 10 as quickly as possible. Why level 10? Well, at level 10 you can craft your first set of basic armor. This is essential, as it’ll keep you alive for much longer than wandering about naked.
