How to Shape Eyebrows: Step By Step Tutorial | Anastasia Beverly Hills

Eyebrow Shaping 101

Anastasia is known as the Queen of Brows and for a good reason. Before you begin shaping your eyebrows, you should get to know the Golden Ratio® Method.

The mathematical rule of thirds, known more modernly as the Golden Ratio, has influenced centuries of art and architecture. Observed in patterns that occur in nature, art, music and the human body, the Golden Ratio offers the key to finding balance, symmetry and beauty. Inspired by this ancient principle of Divine Proportion, Anastasia recognized that the same formula could be applied directly to the human face to create aesthetic harmony. Believing that brows should be shaped according to an individual’s bone structure, Anastasia developed an eyebrow shaping technique based on the Golden Ratio.

There are three guidelines to follow when shaping your eyebrows according to Anastasia’s Golden Ratio® Method:

1: Eyebrows should begin directly above the center of your nostrils. Brows that overlap these points or are too far apart can make the eyes appear more wide-set or close-set.

2: Brows should end where the corner of the nostril connects with the outer corner of the eye. Tails that don’t hit this end point can look nonexistent, highlighting wide-set eyes or adding width to a face.

3: The highest point of the arch should connect the center of the tip of the nose with the center of the iris. When the arches are too close, the brows can seem nonexistent or, if too far out, cause the facial features to be overshadowed by the brows.

1: First, pick up a little brow powder with a brow brush (we recommend using Brow Powder Duo and Brush 7B). Align your brow brush vertically from the center of the nostril upward and mark the starting point of your brow (Point I).

2: Next, place your brow brush on the bottom outside corner of the nostril, align it with the outside corner of the eye and mark the ending point of the brow (Point II).

3: Then, looking straight ahead, place the brush on the center of the tip of your nose, align it with the center of your iris and mark the arch of your brow (Point III).
