To cancel your subscription, you need to determine how you signed up for it in the first place. Choose one of the methods below and follow the steps to cancel your subscription.

If you signed up through PayPal, Google Play Store, Google Pay, Apple Pay, or Scribd.com

Most payment methods require the same few steps to cancel your account. If you purchased through PayPal, Google Play store, Google Pay, or via credit or debit directly on Scribd.com, you’ll follow these steps.

Go directly to the Scribd website and log in to your account.

Next, you’ll want to navigate to the account settings page.

Once you’re in the account settings section, click on the “membership and payment details” option. Here, you’ll see the option to “end my membership” or “cancel membership.”

Read the prompts and confirm

Once you click the button to cancel, you’ll be directed to a couple of pages where you’ll be asked to read the terms of cancellation and confirm your decision to cancel the subscription. At each prompt, confirm your choice.

Check for a confirmation screen and email

Once your membership is canceled, you’ll see a pop-up that says, “Successfully canceled your membership. This may take a few seconds to take effect.” You’ll also receive an email with a confirmation of cancellation message.

If you signed up through iTunes App Store

As with anything you signed up for directly through the iTunes App Store, you’ll need to manage it from the iTunes App Store, as well. Follow these steps below to cancel your membership.

To do anything with your iTunes app store purchases, you’ll need to log in with your username and password if you haven’t already.

Account settings

Go to your account settings then scroll down until you reach your subscriptions. Click on this.

Select subscription

Once you see the list of your subscriptions purchased through the iTunes app store, scroll down until you see Scribd.

Cancel subscription

Select Scribd and you’ll see an option to cancel your subscription. Click cancel and you’re done.

If you signed up through Fortumo

Fortumo is a direct carrier billing service. If you signed up through Fortumo, you’ll need to follow these steps.

Contact customer service

The simplest way to cancel your Scribd subscription is to contact customer service and submit a support ticket or chat live. The customer service team will walk you through the steps to cancel your membership.

Wait for your subscription to run out

Now that you’ve canceled your membership, you might think that you can jump right to deleting your account. But it’s not quite that simple. First, you have to wait for your subscription to run out. That’s right. You can’t delete your account until your membership subscription is done and over.

How to Cancel a Deceased Loved One’s Scribd Account

If you’re the executor for a loved one, you’ll have many executor duties on your to-do list. While closing digital accounts isn’t necessarily something you immediately need to do when someone dies, it’s important to get around to it.

If your loved one had a Scribd account, here are the steps you’ll need to take to get it deleted.

Collect documents

Before you contact Scribd to cancel your loved one’s account, you’ll need to gather several documents. Gather these items below.

Death certificate

You can get a death certificate from the funeral director you worked with or from your state’s Vital Records office. It’s a good idea to ask for several copies at once so you have multiples to send in when closing accounts.

Proof of executorship

To demonstrate proof that you have the right to make changes to your loved one’s accounts, you’ll need to show proof of executorship. This includes documents like:

A copy of the will
Letters of testamentary
A court-certified document proving you are the executor

Valid ID

Collect Account Info

Once you’ve gathered this information, you’ll need to send Scribd an email via their customer service page. Click on the chat symbol at the bottom left and open the dialogue to send an email.

First, type your problem and click enter. Once the option appears, click “contact customer support.”

Then, enter your email and reason for contact. You can select “general inquiry” or “payment and billing.” In your message, include the email address associated with your loved one’s account.

Next, add a subject line and a description. In your description, tell customer service what you need to do.

Finally, attach the documentation to the support request.

Once you’ve completed these steps, submit your request.

Respond to customer service email

A member of the customer service team will contact you from 24 hours up to 7 days depending on volume. They will request any other information needed to verify your loved one’s account and will request confirmation for account deletion.

Respond to the email with any other information they require and confirm the deletion.

Save confirmation email

Confirmation of account deletion will be sent to your loved one’s email associated with the account. Save this for your records.

How to Cancel a Scribd Free Trial

Did you sign up for a free trial and then decide it’s not for you? Canceling is easy and straightforward.
