Herbivore Botanicals – Is It Worth The Hype? | Stolen Inspiration
Herbivore Botanicals is a skincare brand that I had been dying to try out. Number one, it looks ridiculously good in your room. Number two, they smell amazing (or so I’d heard but can now confirm) and number three, they’re meant to be some of the best products you can get for a decent price. Obviously I jumped at the chance to review some of Herbivore Botanicals products and I’ve been trying them out over the past couple of weeks so I can tell you the honest truth: this shit is amazing.
A little bit of skin background so you know what I was working with. My skin is usually on the drier side, but tends to get oiler now that I live in Auckland during the day. I’ve actually had pretty bad skin here considering how good it was when I was living down south, so I knew I had to switch up some products I’d been using. I’ve definitely seen an improvement on the blemishes side and my texture is a lot smoother now that I’m using AHAs on it again. Anyway, here’s a breakdown of each product, how I used it and whether I thought it was worth the splurge. I’ve also reviewed some other major brands in the past so you can find all of those here. Side note: if you are using AHAs always remember to wear sunscreen!

From the get go, this stuff is liquid gold. I was really giving up on my current moisturising routine when I cracked into this and it is amazing. Look, I don’t know whether it’s the ingredients or the fact that I’m finally listening to my skin AKA moisturising at night but it honestly looks so much healthier in the mornings now. Also, my make up is applying so much smoother.
“Lush, exotic floral oils give skin a bright new glow while gently preserving its youth and replenishing hydration” it is marketed as a highly moisturising product and it does do what it says. I usually apply this at night after my usual cleansing routine. Sometimes I’ll also mix this with Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate as well and I think they make such a good combination. Honestly, I’m going to be so sad when this runs out.
I think this oil works so well on my skin (which is slightly sensitive) because it’s not too thick or intense. Some oils can really break me out or leave me with a weird texture but this is very calming. If you’re unsure which to try out of the three, I would recommend this one.
Rose Quartz Facial Roller
So I’ve seen these pretty much all over Instagram lately and I was pretty curious when it showed up. It’s made out of Rose Quartz that’s designed for you to roll all over your face. Very my life is a ‘day spa’. You’re basically meant to apply your serum using the roller which “helps to eliminate toxins, reduce puffiness, and improve blood circulation to even out skin tone.”
I’ve tried it a couple of times so far (because I’m lazy with skincare – guys we all know this) and I do love that it’s cooling so if you had puffy areas in the morning you wanted to calm down I think it would be great. It just feels kind of luxurious too and we like that, am I right ladies!? This would make a cool gift along with one of the oils for some lucky lady too if you’re in the market.
Rose Quartz Illuminating Body Oil
This shimmery body oil will be so ideal in summer and I can’t wait until when I can get my legs out again for this, haha. It adds a really subtle sheen to your skin, without being tacky like a lot of body oils do.
Also, it smells of sweet roses which I am such a fan of so I obviously was going to like it from the get-go. I feel like this would be great for when you need your skin to have a healthy glow in photos. Popping collarbones, supermodel legs – you know the drill. If you’re heading out to the beach or a night out, this is one product you should give a go!
Moon Fruit Superfruit Night Treatment
This one I was the most hesitant about since my skin often reacts to products if I sleep in them. Moon Fruit Treatment is another that has AHAs in it to promote the turnover of dead skin to leave you with a healthy, clear complexion.
You’re meant to apply this one at night before you go to sleep in combination with one of their oils and they’re right – they’re the perfect combination. Like I said earlier: my skin has felt much more clear and soft since trying out these products and I would credit these two products for that. How cool is the intense blue colour too!?
Blue Tansy Resurfacing Clarity Mask
Last but definitely not least, the Blue Tansy mask. Okay, can we just point out again the colours of these products – insanely satisfying to look at. This mask actually applies very sheer but you can feel that tingling (you know, when you have the Oh! It’s Working moment) because of the AHAs + BHAs. It works to again, exfoliate away old skin cells and unclog pores to leave you with healthy skin. It’s an absolute treat on a Sunday waking up on Monday with glowing skin rather than the usually hungover face.
I won’t beat around the bush with this final piece because I’m telling you, this line of products is great. There’s a great range that focuses on including minimal, yet effective ingredients (that smell amazing). I really can’t talk about specifics for you guys with troubled skin. I am lucky that I don’t have to deal with it. If you have normal/combination skin I think Herbivore Botanicals is definitely a skin care brand to, you know, dip your feet in and test out the waters. I’ve found it really gentle throughout. Plus, who doesn’t love the look of these in their bathroom!?
