The specialty dish here is undoubtedly the goat curry (ca ri de). They serve this hearty dish in large or small portions with crispy banh mi (French-style baguettes) or rice. The bowl of goodness comes with hearty chunks in a spicy curry and is dangerously good.

There are also the usual run of exotic side dishes and noodles including eel, frog, and seafood. However, the vegetarian options are, as to be expected, scarce. The decor is typical Vietnamese, battered metal tables and plastic stools for seating, but the Tigers are cheap and the goat curry is unbeatable. Ca Ri An Do is a mainstay with locals and bustling till late and great for groups.

Curry is a further testament to the diversity of Vietnamese food and the influence from its neighbors. It’s not clear if Thailand or India was the main influence which has brought about the advent of curry in Vietnam. Although not as common, and definitely not a famous element of Vietnamese cuisine, it’s curries are superb.
