Without a doubt, electric car companies see battery-powered vehicles as the future of worldwide driving. Many manufacturers are targeting electrified lineups within the next decade or sooner. Other companies pledge a completely carbon-neutral future within the next 30 years.
With that in mind, we pulled together a list of all the electric car companies and vehicles being planned or offered by well-known automakers. Some of these companies are staples in the automotive world with best-selling cars, such as Ford and Tesla, while others have yet to release a single vehicle — and may never even do so.
Our alphabetical list will help you shop if you want to buy an electric car now or in the next few years, or if you just want to plan or dream about the vehicle you might be driving decades from now. Or, it might just be driving you.

Acura
Acura recently released new details of the company’s EV concept car, the Acura Precision. The EV is an SUV and would be the carmaker’s first electric vehicle. While the concept is a good sign of what’s potentially coming, we must wait until the 2024 model year for the real thing. Remember, many aspects of this car won’t make it to production.

Apple Car
We all know and love Apple CarPlay, but what if Apple made a whole car? Well, it’s no secret that Apple has been working on an EV that it hopes will shake up the electric car industry. The tech giant was linked to a partnership with Hyundai, but the deal got called off just a month after the story broke. Apple has been testing an autopilot chip, similar to what Tesla uses. There is no official release date for the car.

Aspark
Aspark is a car company based in Osaka, Japan, that aims to develop the fastest accelerating supercar. The all-electric Aspark Owl goes from 0 to 60 mph in 1.69 seconds and hits a top speed of 248 mph. Don’t get too excited about having this car in your driveway, though. The manufacturer will produce only 50 of these high-performance cars worldwide. Each costs more than $3 million.

Atlis Motor Vehicles
Atlis Motor Vehicles is very new to the electric car scene, but the company wants to manufacture an all-electric pickup truck durable and rugged enough to take on extreme conditions. The Atlis XT aims to be the Arizona-based company’s first vehicle, with a starting price of $45,000. Despite no EV on the market, Atlis has signed an agreement with a supplier to the United States Military. Together, they hope to design and produce a technology platform to convert gasoline and diesel-powered military vehicles into EVs.

Audi
Audi’s all-electric line of e-tron vehicles debuted in 2019, and the company has continued to push out EVs since then. In 2022, the company added more luxury electric SUVs and a grand touring sedan to its e-tron lineup. By 2030, the company expects to offer 30 different electric vehicles.

BMW
After the initial launch of the i3 in 2013, the first BMW electric vehicle, the company is moving to a more traditional style for its EVs. The new direction for BMW brings the i4 and i7 sedans, plus the iX SUV. These all-new, all-electric vehicles boast the company’s signature luxury looks with performance to match.

Bollinger
The Michigan-based startup had planned a truck and SUV for 2022 but now says it is shifting focus to the commercial truck market. The electric automaker plans to release Class 3 through Class 6 commercial work trucks. There has not yet been a release date for this.

Buick
Without a Buick EV on the market, General Motors unveiled a concept car dubbed the Wildcat EV, which will influence all its upcoming vehicles. Buick says its first EV will hit the market in 2024. A spokesperson says all Buick EVs will be called Electra with a number following that name. The Electra moniker is a throwback to a Buick nameplate that debuted in the late 1950s and was used for decades for various models. The concept car pictured above may or may not ever see the production line, but it’s what GM has unveiled so far.

Byton
Byton is a Chinese electric car company that wants to produce multiple electric vehicles in the coming years. With plans to launch in European counties first, they want to come to the U.S. after that. The company hopes to release an SUV and a sedan. However, reports said Byton faced financial hardship, including missed payroll and idled production late last year. Right now, it looks less likely for their cars in the near future.

Cadillac
Cadillac wants to rebrand its image with an all-electric lineup by 2030. General Motors’ luxury brand will start with the highly anticipated 2023 Cadillac Lyriq. When Cadillac opened orders for the vehicle in May, it sold out in four hours. The Lyriq is a sporty crossover with lots of technology and innovative features. In 2025, the company aims to release another futuristic vehicle with the Celestiq.

Canoo
Canoo is a new automaker aiming to bring a futuristic look and feel to the company’s electric vehicles. The California-based company hopes to produce multiple EVs, the first being an electric van. The EV company aims to release the Canoo Van in 2022, with the pickup truck available a year later. The truck will reportedly have 600 horsepower and 200 miles of range on a full charge. Both vehicles are said to start in the $30,000 range. However, the company reported a $125 million loss in the first quarter of 2022. Right now, what’s on tap for the Canoo vehicles is unclear. But there’s plenty of speculation about a Canoo and Apple discussing a future. Canoo’s former chief executive officer, Ulrich Kranz, joined Apple’s car project as a top executive.

Chevrolet
With the Bolt EV hatchback, Chevrolet stepped into the mainstream electric vehicle realm a few years ago. Since bringing the car to market in 2017, the company plans to manufacture larger electric vehicles. It recently released a more SUV-like version dubbed the Bolt EUV. The carmaker also plans to release the 2024 Equinox EV and the 2024 Blazer EV SUVs. In addition, Chevy plans an electric version of its popular Silverado truck with a 300-mile range on a full charge for 2024. The company wants to be carbon-neutral by 2040.

Faraday Future
Faraday Future is a California-based electric car startup that hopes to compete with Tesla. The company expects its first car, the Faraday Future FF91, to release in 2023. The FF91 aims to have 1,050 horsepower and a lightning-quick 0 to 60 mph time of 2.4 seconds. If you want to buy one, you might need to wait as the company says it filled all 300 initial FF91s paid preorders.

Fisker
California-based electric car company Fisker Inc. wants to bring its first vehicle to market in 2022. The startup plans to release the Fisker Ocean, claiming it’s the most sustainable car on the market today. The Ocean is made partially of recycled material to help back its sustainability claims.

Ford
Ford began growing its electric vehicle stable this past year with the Ford Mustang Mach-E. The manufacturer now plans an electric model for each vehicle in its lineup by 2026. Ford also manufactures America’s best-selling vehicle, the Ford F-150, as an EV variant, named it the Ford F-150 Lightning. The Lightning boasts a range of up to 320 miles on a full charge. An electric version of Ford’s popular family SUV, the Explorer, is also reportedly in the works.

Genesis
Genesis could be one of those automakers that makes waves in the luxury electric car market. The luxury division of Hyundai released an opulent sedan, the Electrified G80, in 2022. The luxury brand is also selling the GV60, an electric SUV. The GV60 is currently only available at select dealerships in California, New Jersey, Connecticut, and New York.

Genesis Essentia (concept car)
GMC
General Motors took its iconic Hummer nameplate and transformed it into an electric vehicle pickup truck under the GMC brand. The truck boasts up to 1,000 horsepower and an unbelievable 11,500 lb-ft of torque. This truck is intended to handle all of your towing or hauling needs. After the release of the pickup truck, Hummer will look to electrify an SUV. As a more mainstream offering, GMC has also revealed an electric version of the Sierra pickup truck.

Honda
The one car company you might expect would already sell EVs currently is not, as Honda pulled the plug on the Clarity EV and, before that, the Fit EV. While the company offers hybrid cars like the 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid, the next fully electric vehicle does not come until at least 2024 with the Honda Prologue.

Hyundai
Hyundai has been selling its fully electric Kona for years now. More electrified hybrid and all-electric vehicles are coming or already here, using the Ioniq name. The company currently offers a hatchback and an SUV available for sale. However, the carmaker will release multiple models in the near future, including a coupe-like Ioniq 6 for the 2024 model year.

Jaguar
Jaguar aims to go all-in on their electric car efforts with ideas to make this happen by 2025. With just one EV in its arsenal with the Jaguar I-Pace right now, it’s possible we will see more electric Jaguars even before then.

Jeep
Jeep’s first fully electric SUV, called (at least temporarily) the Wagoneer S, is to launch by the end of 2023. Jeep is also releasing a new vehicle inspired by the Wrangler, dubbed the Recon, with a possible release for the 2024 model year. Stay tuned.

Kia
Kia has already been producing EVs, with all-electric versions of the Soul and Niro in recent years. The company said it will offer seven new electric car models to its inventory in the next five years. For now, the 2023 Kia Niro EV and the stylish new EV6 keep Kia in the EV game. The company also unveiled its EV9 for 2024 model year.

Lexus
Lexus, the luxury division of Toyota, will be releasing its first fully electric car in 2022. The 2023 Lexus RZ 450e is an all-electric luxury SUV that will offer just under 250 miles of range on a full charge. We expect the vehicle to have a starting price of around $50,000. Lexus has kept many of the specifications of the new EV under wraps, but we should know more information on it soon.

Lincoln
While it is just a concept car, Lincoln is preparing to release its first electric vehicle within the next few years. The company released pictures of its EUV, the Lincoln Star, and plans to release it in 2025. They have also announced that they will have an all-electric lineup by 2030, following in the footsteps of many other top manufacturers.

Lotus
The Lotus Evija first released in 2021 with a limited inventory of 130 cars for sale. The EV boasted 1,971 hp and 1,254 lb-ft of torque, making it one of the most powerful EVs on the market. The company also plans to release Eletre, an electric SUV, for 2024. The SUV may offer a top speed of 160 mph and up to an estimated 370-mile range.

Lucid
Lucid Motors could be among Tesla’s biggest competitors. The recently released Lucid Air boasts a range of up to 520 miles. The Lucid Air was voted 2022 MotorTrend Car of the Year in its first model year. The company plans an SUV release in 2023.

Maserati
Maserati is releasing their first EV, the Grecale Folgore, for 2024. The midsize luxury electric SUV looks similar to the gas-powered Grecale, except it is powered by a battery. The company plans to expand its electric lineup in which all models will feature the name “Folgore,” meaning lightning in Italian.

Mazda
Mazda released its first electric vehicle with the Mazda MX-30 compact crossover. Mazda has a way of creating features and qualities oftentimes better than other crossovers and SUVs in the same price range. That is no different with the newest electric car in their lineup. The MX-30 features “freestyle doors” that swing out to open instead of opening like typical car doors. Despite the fancy doors and sleek design, the MX-30 offers a rather underwhelming 100 miles of range on a full charge. The EV starts at $33,470 and is only available in California.

Mercedes-Benz
Mercedes Benz is one more manufacturer bringing luxury to electric cars in an all-new way. The company found a way to make the inside of its EQ lineup look like spaceships rather than sedans or SUVs. They plan to give the “electric spaceship” treatment to the loved G-Wagon SUV. While the luxury car giant dabbled in the electric car game several years ago with a B-Class EV, the company looks to make an all-electric resurgence with its upcoming EQ vehicles.

Mini is making its small, boxy, and fun Hardtop into an EV variant. Rather than opting for a whole new design for their electric models, the brand stayed with its iconic shape and design to step into the electric car industry.

Nissan
We can all thank Nissan. The company ushered in the modern mainstream EV industry when it released the original Leaf over a decade ago. Fast forward to today, the Leaf remains a practical, affordable EV with a starting price of $28,040 plus destination charges for 2023. Then there’s the 2023 Ariya, Nissan’s first crossover SUV, though reservations quickly closed on this vehicle.

Pininfarina
Pininfarina is another supercar maker that made it into the electric car field. It has constructed an all-electric supercar named the Pininfarina Battista with 1,877 hp and 1,696 lb-ft of torque to make getting anywhere you need to go much more fun. Sadly, only 150 of these supercars will get produced.

Polestar
Polestar released an electrified vehicle in 2020 with the launch of the Polestar 1 plug-in hybrid. Then came the fully electric Polestar 2 in 2022. The Polestar 2 is an electric SUV with a starting price point of $48,400. A subsidiary of Volvo, the electric car company plans to build on the momentum of its Polestar 2 with Polestar 3 and others in its fully electric inventory in the future.

Porsche
Porsche, known for its luxurious performance cars, is also moving into the EV era. The car company first debuted the all-electric Taycan. Now, the company plans that its Macan SUV will also be offered as an electric vehicle.

RAM
Ram expects to step into the electric car industry — well, kind of. The company plans on releasing its most popular truck, the Ram 1500, as an EV in 2024. While yes, this is a long time to wait for the truck to become electric, the company expects it will offer 500 miles of range on a full charge.

Rivian
California-based electric car company Rivian is among the most promising startups in the EV era with its release of the all-electric R1T pickup truck and R1S SUV. In addition to producing these adventure-ready electric vehicles for consumers, Rivian is making all-electric delivery vans for Amazon. The online behemoth is a major backer in Rivian, which has raised billions of dollars in funding. Other backers include Ford and Cox Automotive, parent of Kelley Blue Book.

Sony
Consumer electronics giant Sony could also be plotting a leap into the car industry. While still in the prototype phase, there are two vehicles the company is working on — the VISION-S 01 and VISION-S 02. The 01 version is a sedan, the other, an SUV. There is no timeline as to when they plan to make the car available for purchase, but they hope to release their two electric vehicles sooner rather than later.

Subaru
Subaru released its first fully electric vehicle, the 2023 Subaru Solterra. The EV will be an SUV with an estimated range of up to 228 miles and all-wheel drive. The Solterra’s starting price is $44,995.

Tesla
Tesla began releasing futuristic electric cars in 2008 with its Roadster. Since then, the company kept its foot on the gas — make that the accelerator pedal — producing a popular EV lineup. After making sedans and SUVs, Tesla is promising the Cybertruck pickup. The hype around the Cybertruck continues to spark interest since Tesla first announced the vehicle, but the pickup has faced delays.

Toyota
People may not know that Toyota briefly manufactured an all-electric model of its ever-popular RAV4, but it was discontinued in 2014. Perhaps even more unknown is that Toyota made the car in collaboration with Tesla. Now, Toyota has unveiled its all-electric Toyota bZ4X crossover, which is an electric cousin to the Subaru Solterra. Toyota said it hopes to offer dozens of electrified models by 2025 and be carbon neutral by 2050.

VinFast
VinFast is a Vietnamese EV company bringing 2- and 3-row SUVs to the United States. Pricing for the 2-row VinFast F8 starts at $42,200 plus a battery subscription and the 3-row VinFast F9 at $57,500 plus a battery subscription.

Volkswagen
Volkswagen is working hard to bring the electric future to all of its cars. The ID.4, which debuted in 2021, is its latest example, following initial efforts like the Golf EV. But the company expects to produce more EVs. In 2024, the company plans to bring the ID.Buzz minibus to the American market. The car company said it wants to release 70 electric vehicles by 2030 as part of its carbon-neutral plans by 2050.

Volvo
Volvo’s first EV was the XC40 Recharge SUV, introduced for the 2021 model year. It second is a sportier sibling called the C40 Recharge. The EV starts at $58,750. Similar to other car companies, Volvo sees its future as fully electric by 2030.
