CODEX is less than a year old. They have brought a fantastic amount of attention to cracking. Because of this, they have had a lot of competition in the scene, whilst also being supported by most larger communities and scene heavyweights. CODEX are mostly active on the Dutch scene, but have been known to release as far from home as Germany and the United States.
On September 17th, CODEX obtained legal access to crack Resident Evil 0 for PC and PS1. This released right on the 17th of September with no embargo or prior notice that it was available. This Resident Evil 0 PC/PS1 release was made possible by them gaining access to a working PlayStation 3 console. This release was potentially supported by two individuals that CODEX had arrested for cracking at the time. After this release, CODEX made a major statement by saying that they would release their exploits for all the games at once without any sort of embargo. This was delivered in the form of “CODEX Strike 1.0” in October. It would be the basis of how they have been releasing RAREDOX releases since that time.
Upon initially contact with CODEX, we were contacted by them via the Public Agony forum (the Dutch version of ruNu) to act as an intermediary and ask for legal/decisional support for the release of tainted_by_t_zapata’s “Resident Evil 0” back in 2009. We were later given access to the release and they asked us to act as uploader from a Sony Playstation 3 that CODEX had access to. CODEX lost access to this Sony Playstation 3 after the FBI got involved and therefore no exploit was released for this game. This was just one of many circumstances that led to the downfall of CODEX’s business practices.
In 2013 CODEX was caught in the middle of a scandal involving illegally releasing copyrighted software. They released a cracked version of a game called “Resident Evil” (Resident Evil 0) within 5 days of its (true) release date. a4e618e0b4
