Closing Home – CRN | Community Rebuilding Network
Since 2017, we have had the distinct pleasure to serve the greater Orlando area in many ways; initially focused on advocating for families living in our region’s hotels and motels and those living doubled up with others due to Central Florida’s lack of affordable housing. We expanded our research to evidence-based approaches to address the situations, stigmas and systemic challenges that prevent families from thriving. Over the past two years, much of our work at CRN has shifted to working more broadly with churches here in Central Florida to provide learning and networking opportunities for the purpose of collaborative social impact and helping the church more fully live into Jesus’ teaching to “love our neighbors” to effect transformational change.
As we come to the end of our current funding, we feel that the most responsible thing to do is to close our organization (rather than apply for new funding), and continue what work we can through other means. This decision has been made in light of the increased community need for direct services post-COVID, the increased budgetary constraints of the non-profits providing these direct services to our neighbors, and the associated funding challenges they face.
As we complete our time as CRN, we are working to find passionate local leaders across our community to continue some of the specific social impact networking we have worked to develop. In addition, we will be reshaping our facilitated learning efforts so that they can continue to benefit church and nonprofit leaders across our community.
We thank you for the opportunity to serve Central Florida for the past four-and-a-half years and we each look forward to new forms of collaboration and impact in the future.
Blessings,
-The CRN Team
