Electric Skateboards
Riding an electric skateboard is a blast.
The ability to cruise without having to push is mind-blowing.
I wanted to put this list of the best electric skateboard brands to help you research. Each brand offers something unique and will fit different riding styles.
I’ve fallen in love with mini electric skateboards, but they’re not for everyone.

Meepo
Meepo’s website
Headquarters: Shenzen, China
Warranty: 3-6 Months
Kieran Mao founded Meepo after he built his own electric skateboard in 2017. He posted a video on YouTube of his build and got a ton of requests to sell them. So he quit his day job (an engineer) and went full steam ahead building Meepo. Their boards are made at their Shenzen, China factory. They claim to have sold over 120,000 electric skateboards.
Backfire
Backfire’s website
Headquarters: Shanghai, China
Warranty: 6 Months
Backfire was founded in 2012 to create budget-friendly electric skateboards. They’ve since expanded and now offer a wide range of setups. Their about page claims their founders are Randy and Jerry? Not the most convincing.

Revel Boards
Revel’s website
Headquarters: San Diego, California
Warranty: 6 Months
Revel started in 2017 with the mission to be “committed to a sustainable future of skating further, emitting more smiles, and less pollution.” They’re a “build your own” electric skateboard kit and sell complete setups. While there are some limitations, the easiness of customizing your electric skateboard with Revel is awesome.
Bustin Boards
Bustin’s website
Headquarters: Baltimore, Maryland
Warranty: 3-6 Months
Bustin Boards started as a longboarding company in NYC and has since expanded to electric. They have some of the coolest-looking setups, in my opinion. The cool part is the amount of customization you can do when ordering. Graphics, battery enclosure design, trucks – you can make yours unique.
Exway
Exway’s website
Headquarters: Shanghai, China
Warranty: 6 Months
Exway was started in 2016 and offers some solid electric setups. Their tagline is “Born for freedom,” originally focusing on those that live in a city environment. They now offer a wide variety, ranging from electric cruisers to high-performance offroad setups.
Onsra
Onsra’s website
Headquarters: Switzerland
Warranty: 1-2 Years
Onsra is a Swedish-based electric skateboard company started by YouTuber Fabi. He started by publishing electric skateboard reviews on his YouTube channel. Eventually, Onsra launched, quickly becoming one of the top electric brands on the market.
Evolve
Evolve’s website
Headquarters: Queensland, Australia
Warranty: 1 Year
Evolve is an Australian-based electric skateboard company that started in 2008. They’re focused on creating the “endless wave” experience. Mixing their love for snowboarding and surfing, they offer many customization options.
Onewheel
Onewheel’s website
Headquarters: Santa Cruz, California
Warranty: 6 Months – 1 Year
Onewheel is different than all the other brands on this list since its design literally has one wheel. Technically it’s not a traditional electric skateboard, but it’s still something you might want to consider. I have one, and it’s super fun for trail riding.
Questions I get asked often…
How much is a good electric skateboard?
A good electric skateboard ranges from $400 up to a few thousand. If you’re just getting into it, I’d suggest getting something in the $400-$800 range.
Is buying an electric skateboard worth it?
Buying an electric skateboard was one of the best decisions I’ve made. They’re incredibly fun to ride. Wearing the proper safety equipment is necessary – they’re very sketchy!
How long do electric skateboards last?
It depends but on average 1-2 years before you have to start replacing parts.
Can electric skateboards go uphill?
Yes, the best type of electric skateboard for uphill riding are belt-drives.
Should I wear a helmet on an electric skateboard?
Yes, wear a helmet. I had a friend wipe out riding an electric skateboard without a helmet, hit his head on the pavement, and got airlifted to the hospital. He’s okay but lucky. Wear a helmet riding an electric skateboard.
