WWE Raw: The Hurt Business reunion moved closer despite Lashley spearing MVP

Austin Theory was once again a thorn in Bobby Lashley’s palm, this time on MVP’S VIP show.

This week’s Raw saw further interactions between Bobby Lashley and MVP that may be foreshadowing the full reunion of the Hurt Business.

The faction was the dominant force on the red brand while Lashley was WWE Champion in 2021 and was foolishly broken up for no apparent reason. Since then, MVP has turned on Lashley to side with Omos but in recent weeks, the men have been featured in several segments together, with hints aplenty.

With MVP hosting the VIP Show with his guest, United States champion Austin Theory, Lashley of course ended up on the scene. It didn’t go to plan but it seems to be heading in one direction for the former allies.

What happened on the VIP show between MVP, Theory and Lashley?

MVP was hosting the VIP show for the first time in what felt like 15 years and introduced his host, the US champ Austin Theory. Once the usual cocky Theory barbs were out of the way, MVP got to asking him about the upcoming Elimination Chamber pay per view, where the US title will be defended inside the demonic structure.

MVP questioned Theory’s confidence, suggesting that he might not look it but that he is scared, and then mentioning the possibility of his former client Lashley being in the match. Theory told MVP that he should be worried about Lashley, as he was his meal ticket.

This eventually brought Bobby to the ring, where he was calmed down by MVP. Theory used this as a chance to tell him “to listen to your daddy” (perhaps a play on Roman Reigns’ epic putdown of him re Vince McMahon last year).

This incited Lashley and MVP let him go, leading to Theory being beaten around the ring. With MVP holding the champ’s head up with his cane, Lashley lined him up for a spear, only to have Theory push MVP into his path, leading to him taking the punishment.

Where does this leave Lashley and MVP’s relationship, and what is next for Theory?

Lashley looks to be on WrestleMania 39 collision course with Brock Lesnar coming out of the Royal Rumble, with a rubber match lined up between the two behemoths. Could MVP, Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander be in his corner by that point? Let’s hope so.

As for Theory, three of the five challengers to his title in the chamber were confirmed on Raw, with former champ Seth Rollins, Bronson Reed and Johnny Gargano winning qualification matches.
