“I was applying for the FTD (Foreign Trained Dental program), not the DMD. So, the question was “What was the greatest change you have made inorder to adapt to life in the USA”.”

“So why are you here? ”

“Why did you move to California?”

“They asked pretty basic questions. The most interesting was probably asking what my favorite non-science class was.”

“When they asked what my inspiration was whenever sat down to draw something. I was not expecting that question. ”

“If dentistry did not exist what profession would you be going after?”

“In the dental clinics you have shadowed, what aspect of the practice influenced you the most positively?”

“Tell me a little more about one of your extracurricular activities”

“Well I liked the questions about my research experience. and that opened the door for some discussion.”

“None of the questions were even remotely interesting or even well thought out. It was like they had a list they memorized and that’s all they asked.”

“Nothing really, Standard stuff.”

“What would you do if you were accepted to every other dental school except UF?”

“Just asked basic questions”

“What was the last book I read?”

“One of the interviewers asked me if I was good with computers. I told him I was pretty good. Then he asked if he brought me a computer in a box, would I try to put it together right away, or would I read the manual first. I said if it’s a computer, I know how to put it together, but if it was something new to me, I’d probably read the manual first just to make sure I knew what I was doing. Then he told me that he’s the type of person that would read the first few pages, and then get bored and try to figure out the rest. “Are you like me, or would you read the manual cover to cover?” I figured he wanted me to change my mind to agree with him, so I just stuck to my guns and told him I’d probably read the manual. Weird question, and I’m still not sure if I answered it correctly.”

“Why do you want to be a dentist…not…none of their questions were interesting”

“Tell me about the book in your hand. (I was reading the book while in the waiting room waiting for my interview)”

“What do you do for fun?”

“No real interesting questions as the interview was more of a conversation.”

“Why did you choose Wheaton College for your undergraduate studies.”

“They wanted to know exactly how my name is pronounced.
”

“Hypothetically, you have a private dental pratice. There is existing conflict amongst your employees and it affects your practice. What are you to do?”

“What are your plans? Do you want to specialize? Why?”

“The most interesting question I was asked was my opinion of Kaplan. They were really interested in knowing my experiences with the prep course and my insights on the way they taught and prepared the student for the PAT section of the DAT”

“Where do I see myself in 10 years?”

“Where I see myself in 10 years?”

“Nothing remotely interesting. I had spoken to the admissions committee prior to my interview and was shocked with the way they treated me. Don’t be fooled by Dr. Sposetti and Dr. Logan, they pretend to be compassionate, and then turn on you. They went as far as to take the things I asked them about in confidence and use that against me in the interview. Shame on them.”

“How do you feel your maturity level has changed during your time in college, and how will this effect you as a dental student?”

“no interesting questions… just condecending ones”

“All were pretty standard questions. Nothing out of the ordinary.”

“when did u come to America and how did u adjust to the changes? ”

“For the most part, all of their questions seemed to target a specific area of my life and dentistry.”

“What are the responsibilities of the dentist to a patient? ”

“How is your interest in preventative medicine going to transfer to dentistry?”

“How do I feel that my previous work in dental offices will help me in dental school?”
