The 10 best hotels & places to stay in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – Rio de Janeiro hotels
Rio is a marvellous city to visit, but I will not come back in the heart of the summer, as it is far too crowded. The food is very expensive in the restaurants around Copacabana and not always very good for people who want a healthier option. Security is not a big issue if you are smart. You need to watch out for the street urchins, who are not always little children. The danger are juvenile delinquents who can snatch your phone or jewellery. We did not experience that ourselves, but we saw some delinquents running like a bat out of hell after trying to steal something from a biker. However, if you are careful, you will be totally fine. Taxis are the best option for tourists in my opinion. I would avoid Uber. Taxis are regulated by law and so you will be safer. There’s plenty to do in Rio and there is a lot of information to be had at most hotels about tours etc.
