Solved: unidentified network – no internet access windows 7 – HP Support Community – 1050257

Hi,

It may be an idea to set up a Static IP address to see if this will allow you to connect.

Open windows Control Panel and open Network and Sharing Centre.  Click Change adapter settings and in the following window, right click your wireless connection and select Properties.  Left click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) to highlight it ( click on the wording and not the box with the tick ) then click the Properties button.  Click the radio button next to ‘Use the following IP Address and then enter the following values.

IP Address                                192.168.1.110

Subnet Mask                             255.255.255.0

Default Gateway                        192.168.1.1

Also, assign the following DNS Server Addresses

Preferred DNS Server               208.67.222.222             ( These belong to OpenDNS )

Alternate DNS Server                208.67.220.220

After entering these values, remember to click OK to each open Window, before restarting the notebook.

Regards,

DP-K
