Thang Co is the traditional food of Hmoong people. It’s made of horsemeat, horse’s viscera and horse’s bone. You may be afraid to look and hear about it, but try to taste it once. When eating this you should drink with corn wine. It’s a local wine.I believe you will feel it very delicious.

Buffalo meat is also a popular food in Northern Vietnam. But, there is a unique way of processingin sapa. It is dry buffalo meat.Khang Gai dried meat hosts a unique taste that can’t be seen in anywhere of Vietnam. Buffalo meat will be marinated with spices such as: salt, ginger, cinnamon (forest pepper), local leaves. And finally hang up the kitchen for about 6 to 8 months.When you eat you will feel a bit like bacon.

Because Sapa has temperate and subtropical climate, people have successfully raised salmon, without having to import from other countries. Salmon is very tasty, delicious, beautiful orange pink. Cap Nach pork is a specialty of this mountainous region. The local people do not breed pigs in an industrial way, they grazed naturally. The ways to make this dish is diverse. The locals usually roast a whole pig directly on charcoal so that the skin covering the pork is very brittle while the pork inside is very delicious and fleshy.

This is a special chicken of H’Mong. This chicken has black skin, flesh and bones. Studies have shown that black chicken is good for health. I recommendation to eat the chicken soaked in honey then grilled directly on charcoal. It’s very delicious.

Stick with seven colors

 

It is a traditional culture foods of the Nung people in Muong Khuong, Lao Cai. Seven colors of sticky rice include light red, red, white, pink, green, yellow and purple. All of them are maked from local leaves, so sticky rice has its own unique flavor. The people here think that; Eating seven colors will bring them much luck.

There are two famous wines in Sapa: Tao Meo wine and San Lung wine are made by ethnic people from fruits and gourds. The Tao Meo wine is soaked in beries.It is a very special aroma and a bit of acrid smell. San Lung wine is brewed with the yeast of the Red Dao.
