Job Description

SAP Business Analyst – Human Capital Management (HCM) role is responsible for providing functional support and leadership focusing on the Personnel Administration & Organizational Management processes across the entire company’s SAP ERP landscape and other approved operating systems.

The business analyst assists the business to implement appropriate solutions in a cost-effective manner by determining the requirements of business process, interrogating the appropriateness of the process, translating and simplifying the requirements into an appropriate solution that is clearly communicated to all stakeholders. This process commences with a documented business requirement analysis prepared by the business.

Responsibilities also include the planning projects, configuration, implementation, testing, documentation and support of the implemented business processes in the company’s SAP landscape and other primary operating systems within the approved system architecture.

The scope of support will include the review and resolution of system issues that have been escalated in line with the approved support process as well as the ability to manage SAP projects and act as a direct liaison with business personnel, project teams and other members of the information systems organization to ensure that system requirements, deadlines and priorities are clearly defined and achieved.

Data governance is a key element of this role. A single source of data is critical in ensuring compliance to regulatory requirements and to build effective and reliable reporting processes.

 

Qualifications

  • Tertiary Qualification – A recognised Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least 5 years post qualification working experience

 

Skills And Background:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in business or SAP HCM functional knowledge, specifically with Payroll
  • Must have strong understanding of SAP Organizational Structure/Units
  • Strong understanding of SAP Organisational Management, Time Management,
  • Personnel Administration, Payroll Administration & Employee Self Help Services.
  • Basic understanding of Tax Regulations regarding Employee Tax.
  • Must have good knowledge of the integration points between HCM with other SAP
  • Modules like FICO, PP, PM, PS etc. Mandatory to have deep knowledge of related InfoTypes, Master Data, Business Process Scenarios
  • Good knowledge of other SAP modules to understand the integration points with SAP

  • Requires strong communication skills to work internally with end user departments, management and peers. Develops and provides written and verbal presentations to end users, peers, and support personnel.
  • Problem Solving and analytical skills: demonstrates superior diagnostic ability and proficiency in the use of specialized tools, techniques and procedures.
  • Exhibits strong analytical ability and creativity in developing and integrating solution deliverables for medium size projects
  • Strong team leadership skills able to provide leadership and direction to functional teams and other SAP Business Analyst.

Key components of SAP HCM module:

  • Organizational Management − Organizational Management includes Personnel development, Personnel cost planning and event management.
  • Time Management − Time management includes time recording, attendance, time schedule, shift management, etc.
  • Personnel Administration − Personnel Administration includes personal and organizational structure, Infotypes, integration with time and payroll, etc.
  • Payroll − Payroll deals with payroll types, payroll group configuration, primary and secondary wages, gross pay, bonus, etc.
  • Recruitment − Recruitment includes hiring an employee, maintaining HR master data, etc.
  • Training and Event Management − Training and Event Management deals with identifying training needs, scheduling training, training cost management, etc.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Be the leading SAP representative during sustaining phases of SAP projects focusing on Human Capital Management.
  • Conduct well organized business requirements gathering sessions of medium to high complexity in a pre-defined format resulting in detailed and fully documented business requirements definitions
  • Provides leadership by working closely with business function areas to understand business processes, review current systems, and define data requirements. Evaluates current system capabilities and identifies system modifications or changes that need to be made to current SAP HCM business processes
  • Propose and implement system solutions in the areas of Human Capital Management that result in business process improvements that increase business efficiencies and effectiveness.
  • Assist the operations to improve their management information and decision-making processes through sound statistical and analytical practice whilst utilising SAP tools to assist management
  • Liaise with the senior- and middle management of the operations on issues affecting SAP HCM activities. Build and maintain effective working relationships. This is seen as an imperative to the efficient transfer of knowledge and coaching duties that will be required in this position
  • Responsible for enhancements in the Human Capital Management execution process in SAP. Human Capital Management include business process like Personnel
  • Administration, Organizational Management, Time & Attendance, Payroll
  • Administration, Talent Management and Employee Self Help services.
  • Ensure that the interfaces between Canepro and SAP HCM is working effectively for labour hours captured.
  • Ensure that all statutory changes regarding payroll administration are implemented correctly for all countries.
  • Responsible to ensure that all payroll areas comply with Tax regulations of the applicable country.
  • If required, manage third party consultants on SAP HCM projects
  • Understand what key performance indicators (KPI’s) should be used in theory, and assist in the development of reports to measure the KPI’s for business processes related to SAP HCM model
  • Ensure that the SAP Landscape support the Human Resource Strategies.
  • Ensure that Human Resource & Management strategies for Group are consistent maintain in the SAP Landscape.
  • Assist with identifying cost savings and margin improvement initiatives within the Human Capital Management function across all the branches in SA
  • Responsible for the development of indicators that enable visibility to short and long- term market trends and demand, and benchmark the company’s performance against the industry standard.
  • Assist the business to use the reporting tools available in the IT infrastructure to compile management reports for all Operations.
  • Ensure that best practices are followed in the ICT infrastructure to adhere to data
  • Governances and compliance. Make sure that all transactions are done according to the agreed standards of the SAP project. Consistency of business processes across the SAP landscape is critical in this role.
  • Identify new tools or functionality or new improvements in the SAP environment that can reduce inefficiency and ultimately reduce operational cost.
  • Assist with future enhancements of the SAP system. Key aspect is to interact with the SAP support team on all integrated issues that will impact SAP HCM.
  • Any new enhancement and development must be tested and documented in detail to ensure that the current underlying business process are still working effectively
  • Responsible for defining the company’s Standards for Master data for Human Capital
  • Management functions. Ensure that master data standards are adhere too. If required, maintain centralized master data for SAP HCM.
  • Integration of SAP HCM with other modules in the SAP environment is key to ensure that the financial postings and data capturing are accurate and correct according to the designed standards
  • User support to resolve any SAP HCM related issues with end-users
  • Provides on-going support including training of end – users, auditing of data, troubleshooting system problems, answering questions regarding system usage, and developing system enhancements.
  • Define formal test cases and test procedures using standard department templates and procedures to ensure fully tested business systems resulting in high quality systems implementations
  • Reporting on operational inefficiency regarding capturing, transacting or reporting of
  • Payroll administration functions.
  • Strong inter action with other SAP modules support is required
  • Configuration of the SAP system for SAP HCM, according to the best practices is Key in this role
  • Set up of standard work procedures/guidelines for users/third parties who are required to work on TH systems
  • Maintenance of ICT Internal Audit document requirements
  • Develop internal controls and procedures to ensure that all transactions are captured correctly.
