The Media Selection field displays the Default
Media Outlet. To select a different outlet, click the ellipse browse
button to the right of the field to open a Media
Selection window. When a different media outlet is selected, the selection
is applied only for the current login session; the next log in will display
the selected Default
Media Outlet in this field. To assign a different media outlet as
default, click the User
login name in the Navigation
bar and select the Preferences
link.
Important Note!
The choice selected has an effect on the
speed of the search. The greater the search area, the slower the
search speed. If interested in a small range of media outlets,
define these in Panels,
and use a panel selection from the top of the list.
Media Selection window
This Media Selection window is used in the Ad
Analysis, Network Airplay,
Advertising

Share
Reports, New Accounts
and Song
Analysis reports allow for multiple panel selection
where licensed. Use the checkbox to the left of the panel name to select
multiple panels. Use
the Media
Type
checkboxes, at the bottom of the window, to deselect any medium that is
not to be included in the report by unchecking the box(es).
Station / Outlet Selector
The Station / Outlet Selector
link at the top of the Media Selection window will expand the window to
display all the selected items in the Panel or Market. Use the Close
link to close this section.
Select Options
The select options found below the Selected Items
pane of the Media Selection window are used in many of the additional
windows found when selecting search criteria for a report.
Selecting – Click
one or more items in the Search Results pane to select. Selected items
are highlighted.
Clearing selection – To deselect
a selected item, click again on the item.
Select All – Click the select
all
checkbox to select all the items in the search results or list.
Clear All – Click the clear
all checkbox to clear all
selections.
Invert selection – Click the
invert selection
checkbox to invert the current selection – selected items are deselected,
and deselected items are selected.
Media Type
The Media type options,
below the Available Media pane in the Media Selection window,
are used to specify
the type of Media (Radio,
Newspapers,
Television,
Cable, Podcast
and Internet) to search through. Hovering the
mouse over the Media Selection field will show a tool tip of what Media
Type and Market are selected for the search. When
working with Advertising Expenditure,
Radio, Newspapers
and Television
are available.
When
the Television option is selected to generate Advertising Expenditure
results, the Television
Break type setting defaults to Local Breaks.
Important
Note!
When Network-Local subscribers select the
Television or
Cable options, the
Television/Cable filter
option is displayed, and if Radio,
Newspaper or Internet is selected the Radio/Newspaper/Internet
Account filter is displayed.
Network Television
The Network television Media selection
is available in the Ad
Analysis, Advertising Expenditure,
Share
Reports, Media
Log, New
Accounts, and Creative Tracking reports
where licensed. When Network Television market is selected all media types,
except Television and Cable, will be disabled in the Media Selection window.
In the Advanced menu of Media Selection window the network names and owner
will be shown in 4 categories: Network TV (English), Network TV (Spanish),
Network Cable (English), Network Cable (Spanish).
When Network Television is selected
the Television/Cable
Break Type filter is hidden and the checkbox Include Result Pending and NA
is checked by default.
Running a report will run just
like a local market report is run except that in this case Network Television
will be treated as a market. Network AQH and CPP will be used and Revenue,
Impressions and TRP will be included just as in local broadcast TV.
Date Range
Select a Date or click the Use date
range option to specify a date range. The Date Range fields are
used to select the start and end dates for this search. When first accessing
the Media Log window, the dates displayed are the last search dates used,
or the last dates licensed for in the market. Click the ellipse browse button at right
of either date field to open a Calendar Control. Select a start and an
end date in the relevant fields, or drag across the control to select
a date range. Some reports will only have a date range, to run the report
for a specific day select the same day for the Start and End date.
If a date range larger than 24 months is requested the report will run
outside the normal processing queue and the user will receive a notification.
Broadcast Calendar view
Check the Use broadcast calendar option to switch to the standard Broadcast
Calendar view. This view shows a Monday to Sunday week, and weeks are
consecutively numbered on the left.
Newspaper
Date Provisions
Selecting a Newspaper
or Internet media
type will display a message containing the Last Available date for the
selected Newspaper
or website immediately
underneath the date selection control. This is because Newspaper
and website data
sometimes takes longer to add to the database.
Daypart
The Daypart option is used to select or create a Daypart in the Dayparts
window as part of the search criteria.
Ranking
The Ranking option, when selected will display a drop-down for the user
to select to display only a specific number of the top Accounts,
Parent
or Categories found in the search. This allows the user to narrow the
findings further in the results pane to the top Accounts,
Parent
or Categories in the Market/Media Selection. In the Ad
Analysis report the Ranking is based on Instances of the advertisement,
in the Advertising Expenditure Report
and Share Reports the Ranking
option can further filter the report by Instances or Revenue of the advertisement.
When there are multiple Accounts that have the same Instances/Revenue all ties for
last place will be included in the report. When the Ranking option is
used a Rank column will be displayed in the results of the report.
Examples:
-
Ranking
is set at Top 10 Accounts, one Account has 10 instances and 99 Accounts
all have 9 instances, all 100 Accounts will be shown in the results. -
Ranking
is set at Top 10 Accounts, 50 Accounts all have 10 instances and all
other Accounts have fewer, only the 50 accounts will be shown in the
results.
Search
These filter options are used in a number of Report Analysis windows,
Ad Analysis,
Share
Report, Advertising Expenditure
and New
Accounts. The Keyword or Ad
Panel search options allow the user to narrow their search by a keyword(s)
or a selected Ad Panel. If Keyword is selected Ad Panel is disabled. If
Ad Panel is selected Keyword is disabled.
Keyword
The default search option selected is the Keyword option. Use this field
to enter a text string to narrow down the search. Entering the exact
text of the item being searched for can speed up the search and avoid
the need to repeatedly drill down with multiple searches. This field can
be used to search for a particular product, ad, spot title, agency or
client. Search for multiple keywords by using OR (in uppercase) to separate
the keywords.
For Example:
Ford OR Mercedes Benz OR Audi.
Each keyword must have at least 2 characters. A maximum of 15 Keywords
may be used.
Optionally, use the
Show
Categories link to open the Category Selection window
to select up to 15 Categories.
Use
the Clear All
to deselect all selected categories.
Ad Panel
The Ad Panels window is accessed from a reports window when the Ad Panel
search option is selected in the Report
Search Settings. This window is much like the Ad
Panels tab in the Client Panels window that can be accessed from the
Panels link in the Navigation
Bar. From this window an Ad Panel can be, selected, created,
edited, viewed,
shared or deleted,
allowing for the adjustment of ad panels as advertising campaigns adjust
to follow market developments. Tracking these changes is key to monitoring
activity. The Ad Panels window is divided into two sections. The top section,
My Panels, displays the panels created by the logged in user. The bottom
section, Shared panels, displays the shared
Ad Panels created and shared by other users in the same licensed company.
The currently selected Ad Panel is highlighted in orange.
For details on defining and managing Ad Panels, see the Ad
Panels tab in the Panels topic.

The
Network-Local service allows clients to filter by Ad buys or
Accounts in a Spots/Ads Analysis. In
Television and
Cable,
Ads can be bought on a Network or a Local basis, and Network Ads can also
be booked locally. A detailed breakdown of all these Break
Types can be generated, allowing the user to view buys by break type,
with a more basic
Accounts filter for Radio,
Newspapers
and Internet
as well as Television and Cable.
Break Type information is displayed for Television and
Cable
Ads in the Break Type column in the Instances window.
Important
Note!
For Television and
Cable, a Network Buy is defined as advertising
time bought in multiple markets simultaneously in a specific time
slot. An ad placed in the first break after the start of a networked
hour in multiple markets, is treated as a Network Buy, even if
there is some variation in exact start times due to local spots.
As there is no time equivalent in Newspapers and network equivalent
in Radio, we display
Account information.

and Share
Reports when Television is selected as a Media Type. This filter is used
to select the demographic for estimating AdRev and whether to show the
Targeted Rating Points (TRP) and Impressions for the selected demographics
in the results pane. Nielsen ratings and Low SQAD CPP (cost per point)
will be used to estimate revenue (AdRev) for broadcast TV and local Cable
(Network TV uses average SQAD). For broadcast TV and Network Television,
AdRev estimates for all demos other than Household are available only
from January 1st, 2013. For local Cable, estimates are available only
from April 2016.

This Internet filter allows the
user to choose between Internet Instances or Internet Observations. Hover
the mouse over the help icon
to the right of this field to view a helpful tip for this filter. The
Media Type
must include Internet media for this filter to be shown.
Internet Instances – An
Instance is the occurrence of a unique creative on a specific web site
and day.
Internet
Observations – Observations is the total number of times the unique
creative was encountered by our data collection process on a specific
web site and day. A higher Observation count may indicate that a given
creative will be seen more frequently than a creative with a lower Observation
count. This is mostly applicable when looking at observations on a single
site, as differences in site traffic make comparisons in observations
across sites harder to interpret.
Show Impressions
When the Show Impressions option
is selected in the Advertising Expenditure
and Share
Reports (Share Report, Share Comparison and Share Trend)
the report will show an Impressions and Impressions Share column. The
footer Result
Totals will also show an Internet Impressions Total.
The Show Impressions in the Internet Filters of the Share Reports allows
the user to view the product of share of voice (SoV) of each account on
a website and publisher inventory (SoV x Pub Inventory), where Pub Inventory
= pages viewed/month for website x Adx placed per page.
Internet Creative Type
The Internal Creative Type drop-down
can be used to filter on the Creative type used for the ad when Internet
is selected as a media type. Click the Internet Creative Type ellipse
button
to open the Creative Type selection window. The available options for
Creative Type are Desktop Banner and Desktop Video, Mobile Banner and
Mobile Video or All. The Banner options will return results that have
a banner creative type used for the ad, excluding any Video creative.
The Video options will return results that have a video creative type
for the ad, excluding any banner creative. This filter option is available
in the Ad
Analysis, Media Log, New Accounts
and Share
Reports. The Media Log
internet creative type filter is found below the results and is applied
after the report is created. The default option is All Creative which
include both banner and video creative.
When the Internet Creative field
shows Various, the user can hover the mouse over the field to view the
selections.
Transaction Methods
A Transaction Method is how an
internet ad is bought by the advertiser from the publisher. The Transaction
filter option is available in the Ad Analysis, Media Log, New
Accounts and Share Reports.

not involve programmatic transactions. Transaction chain includes
at least one Ad Network with no programmatic mediators. -

ad that an advertiser runs on their own web site or network of web
sites. -
Programmatic
– Is a programmatic
indirect transaction. Transaction chain includes at least one programmatic

respected in the instance view. When loading a report with a panel using
custom sort ordering, the report will reflect the sort order of the panel
when it is saved, meaning if the panel’s custom sort ordering is changed,
such changes will be reflected in new reports and not in previous reports.
When loading a report with a panel using custom sort ordering, the

The Show me X items per page control allows the user to control the
number of rows of data that are displayed in the results. The default
is 50 rows of data. Use the drop-down to select from the possible options
to increase or decrease the amount of data presented in the results pane.
The results window will automatically refresh on selection of a new value.
Pagination
Pagination provides hyperlinks for the page numbers. They are displayed
in blue to indicate it is a link to the page. The current page is indicated
in bold and is a larger font than the rest to show which page the user
is currently on. If there is more than 10 pages of data, additional pages
will be indicated with three dots (…). The arrows < > can be used
to go to the Previous or Next page.
Go to page
The Go to page option allows the user to jump to a specific page. This
option is useful for larger reports with more than 10 pages.
Find – Search for text across all pages
The Search for text across all pages at the bottom
of the results page opens the Find window allowing the user to enter text
to search by specified field across all the pages in the results.
Enter the text to search, select the field in which to search and then
click Go to initiate the search.
Rows
The bottom right area of the reports displays the number of rows of
data for the page and where applicable the Total Instances and Total Revenue
for the report. The Advertising Expenditure Report
and Share
Reports will
also show the total TRPs and Impressions for the current search when the
Television/Cable
AdRev® demo filter
is used.
Pending Verification Report
The Pending Verification Report
can be accessed from the Ad
Analysis,
Advertising
Expenditure,
Share Report, New Accounts,
Network Airplay and
Media Log
reports. Selecting this option will initiate the download of an Excel
file that displays a Pending Verification (Summary) and a Pending Verification
(Detail) sheet of the items that have been analyzed for the selected period,
but which have not yet met the stringent internal verification process.
If the Date
Range selected for the report includes a recent date,
it is possible the report will contain instances of Spots and Songs that
still require verification.
Errors and Omissions Report
Media Monitors goes to great lengths
to ensure that it delivers solid and robust analysis results. On very
rare occasions, our systems might miss airplay of an item due to a tuning
problem with a Media Monitors field recorder, a technical failure at the
hosting site or some similar reason, resulting in an Error. A Media
Outlet may lose transmission, resulting in incomplete data, or an Omission.
We will alert users of these situations, and provide a dedicated report
which in many cases will help pinpoint where the problem lies. The Errors
and Omissions Report can be accessed from the Ad Analysis, Advertising Expenditure,
Share Report, New Accounts,
Network Airplay and
Media Log
reports. Selecting this option will initiate the download of an Excel
file that displays five tabs; Media Monitors ESO, Broadcaster ESO, Account
Title Corrections, Stations Changes and Last Newspaper Dates.
Account Title Modifications report
Accounts and Titles are occasionally
subject to change. This can be for a number of reasons, including the
assigning or correction of internal data, accounts changing hands, campaigns
being revised or other reasons. This report is designed to allow clients
to trace when such changes take place. These are generally corrections
made to spelling or further clarification of an Account or Parent and
are logged here as a result of Media Monitor’s internal data review processes.
The Account Title Modifications report can be accessed from several of
the Report windows using a link found at the bottom of the window. Selecting
this option will initiate the download of an Excel file that displays
items that have had changes made over the previous 90 days. The Change On column shows the date
and time the information was changed. The Operation
column will display what has been changed for the Account. The ‘Account
Before/After’, ‘Parent Before/After’, and ‘Category Before/After’ columns
displays the Before and After status of each Account, Parent or Category.
