Just so you know, I’ve never really gotten into cryptocurrency so I don’t know much about it and I apologise if this is a dumb question.

My parents have gotten into the Pi network and they want me to get into it. But they apparently ask you to send in a photo of your passport, put in your address, name, date of birth, and send a picture of yourself to confirm your identity for KYC? I am extremely sceptical so I didn’t do it. Is this normal that you have to confirm your identity by putting in this much detail about yourself?
I feel like they’re wanting to gather your data and then sell it.
