The Nintendo Network is the service that provides games and content via the Internet (Nintendo eShop, etc). It gives access to a wide range of network services, such as playing games with people from around the world, downloading software and content, and exchanging images and messages.

A Nintendo Network ID can be linked to one Wii U and one system in the Nintendo 3DS family. If a Nintendo Network ID is linked both to a Wii U and a Nintendo 3DS system, the Nintendo eShop balance of each will be consolidated and shared.
