This piece; a digital painting from an in-class demo at the school of conceptual design in Singapore; FZD, by one of their amazing teachers in what would have been an hour or so. It is really inspiring to think that something of this detail could have been made in only an hour. The piece is either an environment design or a piece for practicing digital painting for FZD’s students. It uses an interesting color palette moving from cool wintery  blues to warmer sunny pinks and oranges. It depicts a wide-angle shot of a snowy urban landscape sweeping from a foreground shot of a building on the side of road looking over the town below which rolls far off into the distance towards the mountains in the backgrounds.

The main principle of Media Arts in use in this piece I believe is interactivity as the original purpose and creation of this piece was inside of a classroom during a class demonstration. The teacher would go throughout making the piece discussing important parts about the process of making the piece with his/her students. And for a piece that was made in a classroom setting in only an hour it is amazingly detailed and beautiful at the same time. As a student; to have a demonstration like this would be very hopeful in furthering ones understanding and techniques.

I was really interested in critiquing a piece from FZD for my blog as the school and the artist behind it are my great inspiration as an artist as I hope to one day be able to study there. And I find it astounding that a teacher in just an hour could create such a great piece, although the piece is in a rough “sketch” of a painting the overall gestural techniques used really take over for the imagination to help visualize the piece entirely. I also chose this piece in particular is reminded me somewhat of an old Owl City music video(I believe “Vanilla Twilight”) which had a very visually stunning sky with a color scheme similar to the sky on the right side of the painting. Overall I think that its great and gives me all the more reason to go there!
