‘Married at First Sight’ Season 14 Reunion Recap: Who Stayed Married?

Lifetime’s popular reality TV series Married at First Sight has officially wrapped up its 14th season, capping things off with a two-part reunion that aired its first half yesterday, on May 18. Season 14 premiered in January of this year, and has been following five couples who were matched by relationship experts before immediately getting married (…at first sight) and spending eight weeks together to get to know one another and build a relationship before Decision Day would come to force them to decide whether or not they would stay together.

MAFS Season 14 took place in Boston and featured five couples: Jasmina and Michael, Katina and Olajuwon, Lindsay and Mark, Noi and Steve, and Alyssa and Chris. Over the course of the season, each couple had their trials and triumphs, but only a few could whether the test of time (and lack of cameras). What happened to each couple at the juicy and drama-filled reunion special? Which couples stayed married and which threw in the towel for good?

Spoilers for the Season 14 Married at First Sight reunion (Part 1) ahead

Jasmina & Michael

While these two did, in fact, make it past Decision Day, the reunion revealed that even just getting to that point was a bit of a struggle. Jasmina and Michael spent the first month of their marriage in a stilted limbo, barely speaking largely due to early miscommunications. Things changed for the better when the pair was forced to be vulnerable with one another in a couples’ exercise, but it turns out that this change of heart wasn’t enough to make them last in the long haul. After Decision Day, the two realized they weren’t putting the same level of effort into the relationship, and Jasmina admitted to seeing Michael as more of a friend than a romantic partner. The exes are now back in the dating pool, and seem to have no bad blood between them.

Katina & Olajuwon

Another couple to make it past Decision Day, Katina and Olajuwon came onto the show with wants that didn’t really align: Katina wanted to work and finish school, while Olajuwon was looking for a “traditional” wife who would stay home to cook and clean. While many fans took to Twitter to lambast Olajuwon’s condescending behavior and treatment of his new wife, Katina continued to give him chances. No mater what the viewers may say, the two seemed to be going strong at the reunion, exemplified by Olajuwon’s willingness to admit his past mistakes and reaffirm their love with a second proposal, accompanied by a brand new (and quite large) ring.

Lindsay & Mark

Lindsay and Mark started strong, but the further they got into the relationship, the more problems arose. Lindsay felt that Mark acted different when the cameras were on, and Mark wasn’t a fan of his ex-wife’s excessive bluntness. Once the two moved in together, apparently things swiftly headed south, as they fought more and encountered various obstacles that further tore the relationship apart. Though Lindsay and Mark made it past Decision Day, they are currently divorced and, if the reunion is anything to go by, definitely did not part as friends.

Noi & Steve

The couple who seemed most likely to stay together come Decision Day is indeed still married! While Noi is not yet officially Noi Moi in name, she seems to be in sync with her husband in other areas after having talked through some of her concerns regarding Steve’s financial situation and stability (worried provoked by the fact that Steve does not currently have a full-time job). The two now live together most of the time, and are even considering trying to start a family of their own within the next year

Alyssa & Chris

The only pair to not make it past Decision Day, Alyssa and Chris lasted a mere two weeks together before completely falling apart. After all, you know it’s bad when you only go on the honeymoon because you thought it was required for the show (as was the case for Alyssa, who also repeatedly bad-mouthed Chris on camera). The ex-couple maintained that going their separate ways was the right decision, and we can definitely agree, as it was pretty clear from the get-go that the two weren’t physically, spiritually, or emotionally compatible.
