Steps to follow

To successfully connect to the UCSFwpa wireless network, customers with PCs running the Windows 7 Operating System must first configure a profile using the Network and Sharing control panel.

Follow the steps below to create a successful connection to the UCSFwpa wireless network.

Add a wireless network

1. From the Start menu, go to the Control Panel.
2. Open the Network and Internet control panel.
3. Click the link to Manage wireless networks.
4. Click the Add button.
5. At the How do you want to add a network? prompt, click Manually create a network profile. 

Enter the network information

Enter the following wireless network information:

1. In the Network name field, enter UCSFwpa.
2. From the Security type drop-down menu, select WPA2-Enterprise. 
3. From the Encryption type drop-down menu, select AES.
4. Click the Next button to continue.

You have successfully added the UCSFwpa wireless network profile.

Update the profile properties   

Click Change connection settings to update the profile properties.

Configure the security tab       

Click the Security tab and configure the following settings:

1. From the Choose a network authentication method drop-down menu, select Microsoft Protected EAP (PEAP).​​​​
2. Click the Settings button to continue.

In the Protected EAP Properties window:

1. Click on the Validate server certificate checkbox.
2. Next to the Secured password pull-down, click on the Configure button.

In the EAP MSCHAPv2 Properties window:

1. Check the box to Automatically use my Windows logon name and password.
2. Click the OK button.

In thewindow:

Click the OK button again to get back to UCSFwpa Wireless Network Properties.

Configure the advanced settings

On UCSFwpa Wireless Network Properties, click the Advanced Settings button.

In the Advanced settings window:

1. Check the box next to Specify Authentication mode.
2. Select User authentication from the drop-down menu.
3. Click the Save credentials button to store your Active Directory username and password.

In the Windows Security dialog box:

1. Enter your MyAccess or [email protected]* username and password.
2. Click the OK button 3 times to close the UCSFwpa Wireless network profile.

*Also known as an Active Directory (AD)/computer login account.       

Set network location

In the Set Network Location window, choose Work network.

Congratulations!

You are now connected to the UCSFwpa wireless network. You can close all Wireless Networking Control Panel windows.

How to delete the current UCSFwpa connection entry

1. Navigate to the Start menu and select Control Panel on the menu’s right side.
2. Select Network and Sharing Center.
3. In the Tasks pane, click Manage wireless networks to see existing wireless connections.
4. Right-click the UCSFwpa connection and select Remove Network.
5. In the Manage Wireless Networks warning dialog box, click OK. (In some cases, a machine reboot may be required.)

To reconnect to UCSFwpa

1. Select the wireless network icon on the right side of the task bar.
2. In the list that populates, select UCSFwpa and use your Active Directory login credentials (including the proper domain).
3. Windows should automatically update all connection certificates.
