Valorant is a rather versatile game that can run on most computers and perform well enough with most internet connections. However, if you’re stuck with a rather spotty network, you can run into network issues when playing online. 

If you’re facing an issue with Riot’s FPS and the game isn’t running smoothly or at all, here are four fixes that will help you fix the Valorant network problem.

Restart your router

This should be the first item on your troubleshooting list when diagnosing internet-related issues. If you feel like your network is running slower than usual, try restarting your router to resolve the issue.

Switch to Ethernet

If you’re using Wi-Fi, try using ethernet while gaming instead. A wired connection will always be more stable than a wireless one, and in a game like Valorant, where ping and reaction times are everything, every millisecond counts.

Try limiting your FPS

Limiting your in-game FPS can help free up a few system resources and, in turn, can give you better network performance when gaming, which should ideally fix the Valorant network error.

Step 1: Launch Valorant and click on the gear icon in the top right.

Step 2: Click on Settings.

Step 3: Click on the Video tab.

Step 4: Scroll down to find the Limit FPS Always setting and turn it on.

Step 5: Set a value below 200 in the field preceding the setting. We recommend keeping it at 60 or 120 if you have a higher refresh rate monitor.

Turn down the game settings

Lowering your game’s graphics settings can help reduce system lag and improve your ping in some cases. 

If you’re facing frequent lags while playing Valorant, try turning down some graphics settings that don’t directly impact your gameplay to see if the situation improves. 

Try playing at your nearest server location

Valorant being such a global game has its game servers set up in various locations around the world to make it easy for players to be able to enjoy the game with the least possible network fluctuations 

While the game automatically picks the best server possible, some people change it in order to find better players during matchmaking or play with their friends who might live in another part of the world. So if you’re facing network issues while playing online, try switching to the server closest to your current location. 

Reinstall Valorant

If nothing else works, reinstalling Valorant from scratch remains the only way to try and resolve the issue. 

Step 1: Press Windows key + X to launch the Quick Access menu and select Apps and features

Step 2: Find Valorant in the list, click it and click the Uninstall button.

Once the uninstall is complete, download the latest version of Valorant from the Riot Games’ website, restart your PC and try again.
