How to Install Windows 7 Network Driver

A network driver is a software that connects the computer operating system with network adapters. Network Adapters is basically a hardware device that enables us to connect to the internet with the help of the network driver software. They come in different forms, such as USB Network Adapter, network interface card, wireless network adapters, etc.

Some network drivers get installed automatically the minute the network adapter is plugged in. But in some, one needs to install the Network Driver manually onto your operating system. 

Why use a network driver on Windows 7?

Without a network driver, the operating system will not be able to connect to the internet and make use of some of its necessary features required for the system to function properly. For instance, downloading updates for Windows and its applications. Not updating the Windows or applications may result in errors and issues in the future as updates usually carry bug fixes and better smoother performance for the application.

How to download and install the network driver on Windows 7

You can manually download and install the driver and also use 3rd party driver update tools. If your network card is not working then you have to use another windows system to download the latest Windows Network Drivers.

Method 1: Manually install Network Drivers in Windows 7

Step 1: Go to Driver and Software List and download the driver package appropriate for your system.

Step 2: Double-click on the .exe file you downloaded to automatically install the driver’s software.

You can do it manually. Follow these steps:

Now Open Device manager. Go to Start menu > search for device manager.

Now find Network driver which has a problem. You can find it with a yellow icon.

Step 3: Right-click on the faulty driver and choose Update Driver Software.

Step 4: Click on Browser my computer and then Browse.

Step 5: Go to the folder in which the extracted driver files are.

Make sure to Include subfolders so that it will scan the entire driver set.

Step 6: Click “Next,” and it will start to install the driver software. Once the installation is complete, it will show in the network adapters section

Method 2: Download driver on a USB drive

Step 1: If you can access another computer, then download the LAN/Wired/Wireless driver file on the computer and save it in a USB drive.

Step 2:  Connect the USB drive to the computer you want to install the driver file in and copy the data from the USB drive to your system.

Step 3: Install the network driver on your computer.
