Getting Into Your Google My Business Account For The First Time

Logging In

  1. Go to https://business.google.com/
  2. On the top right, click on ‘sign in’ to create your Google My Business Login
  3. Enter your email or phone number associated with your account and follow the instructions to log in
  4. Scroll down and click on ‘Agree & Create Account’. Type in a new username and password that you will remember for this account and type it again for confirmation
  5. Click “Create Account”
    6 . On the left side under ‘My Business’, click on “Settings”
  6. Type in your phone number or email associated with your account to reset your password. Follow the instructions to confirm your new password

  9. Once you’re signed up, make sure that your local business information is accurate.

Once you create a GMB listing the first thing you should do is:

Setting Up Your Google My Business Profile

  1. Go to https://business.google.com/dashboard
  2. Click on the name of one of your locations in the left sidebar
  3. On the page that opens, click ‘edit info’ and type in your business description and other business information, making sure it is all accurate
  4. If you want to add a photo for your business, enter it on this page and click ‘Upload’
  5. Click ‘Save’
  6. You can add opening hours, additional information, and more.
  7. To add photos of your business’s interior or exterior, click on the “Interior” or “Exterior” pages under “Photos & Videos” in the left sidebar
  8. Click on the green button that says ‘+ Upload Images’
  9. Click upload to upload your images
  10. Once you’re done adding photos, come back to this page to finish editing other business information
  11. Once you’re done, click ‘Save’
  12. Click ‘Save’ to finish editing your profile. You can click on “Show/Hide” below the name of your business location to view all of your edits as well as any comments left by other users

Setting Up Your GMB Information

  1. Go to https://business.google.com/dashboard
  2. Click on the name of one of your locations in the left sidebar
  3. On the page that opens, click ‘Local Info’
  4. On the next page that opens, enter your categories and other information into the boxes provided
  5. Choose whether you want to be found on Google Maps or in Search, or both
  6. To add to your category list, click on “Add Another Category”
  7. You can choose between two different types of business categories: Primary and Other
  8. Click on “Save” when you’re done.
  9. Click “Save” when you’re finished editing your address information, so you can be found by users searching for your business
  10. Click ‘Save’ one last time to finish editing all of your information on this page
  11. To view the summary of your business information, or any edits made by other business users, click ‘View Edit List’. If you don’t want to see this list again, click on ‘Hide Edit List’ at the bottom of the page
