Gemini Adds Support for New Blockchain Network: Avalanche (AVAX) | Gemini
We are delighted to announce support for another blockchain network, Avalanche (AVAX), further expanding Gemini’s list of supported networks!
AVAX is now available for trading on our API/FIX and ActiveTrader applications for USD trading pairs, and on the Gemini Mobile App and website for USD, GBP, EUR, CAD, SGD, HKD, and AUD pairs!*
Support for Avalanche further bolsters our compatibility across the blockchain ecosystem, marking another exciting milestone on our crypto journey. Avalanche is an open-source proof-of-stake (PoS) platform for creating custom blockchain networks and decentralized applications (dApps). Built by Ava Labs, Avalanche is one of many platforms leveraging smart contract technology.
Avalanche’s network infrastructure is built to enable modular blockchains that are scalable and interoperable with other entities on the Avalanche blockchain. The project aims to build increasing connectivity to Ethereum and the wider blockchain ecosystem. AVAX, Avalanche’s native token, is the network’s unit of account, and is used for paying transaction fees and for staking in Avalanche’s consensus process.
With the addition of Avalanche, Gemini is now compatible with 11 blockchain networks, including: Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), Litecoin (LTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Zcash (ZEC), Filecoin (FIL), Dogecoin (DOGE), Tezos (XTZ), and Polkadot (DOT).
Gemini supports more than 120 tokens! Learn more about all the tokens we support for trading and/or custody here.
We look forward to supporting new crypto projects on our mission to unlock the next era of financial, creative, and personal freedom.
Onward and Upward!
Team Gemini
*AVAX can be stored in Gemini’s exchange wallet but is not yet available in Gemini Custody.

Learn more about Avalanche (AVAX)
Avalanche is a proof-of-stake (PoS) blockchain network that supports decentralized finance (DeFi) applications and enables the development of enterprise blockchains. Avalanche developers can build their own blockchain applications and networks that are governed by complex rules or develop on top of existing public and private subnetworks (subnets). AVAX is the native token of the Avalanche network, and is used to pay fees, secure the platform through staking, and provide a basic unit of account between the multiple subnets created on the network. AVAX also provides on-chain governance for critical network parameters where participants can vote on changes to the network.
