Friday the 13th — A New Beginning

Aug 23, 2013

A frightening horror film that’s full of scares, Friday the 13th: A New Beginning revives the series. Haunted by the memory of Jason, a now grown up Tommy is sent to a halfway house to assist in his recovery; but when a new killing spree begins the local sheriff suspects that Jason is still alive and has returned. The directing is fairly good, and does an impressive job at maintaining suspense and mystery throughout the film. Additionally, the kills are brutal and chilling. There are some issues with the plot, but overall it’s able to move the series forward and break away from the trite formula that the films had fallen into. A refreshing entry into the franchise, Friday the 13th: A New Beginning brings back the terror that had been missing in the last few installments.
