With Facebook Business Manager, you can allow “advertisers to manage their marketing efforts in one place and share access to assets across their team, partner agencies, and vendors. ”
Consider this your command center for all business operations on Facebook — AND — Instagram.
Whether you control your ads or hire an agency to help, you’ll be able to track your efforts and create detailed reports and visual data to see how your ads perform.
If you haven’t been using Facebook Business Manager, this guide will show you everything you need to know in just six simple steps.
Whether you have a Facebook business page or just a personal account, the first step is creating your Facebook Manager Account. Here’s how to do it:

Go to
business.facebook.com/create
and click on “Create Account.”

Add your account details, then click “Next.”

Add your business details (i.e., Country, Address, etc.), then click “Submit.”

Finally, confirm the email you received from Facebook

You should receive an email like this; click “Confirm Now.”
With your account established, you can start adding pages and roles to your new Facebook Business Manager account.
There are several choices when adding Facebook Business pages to your Business Manager account. You can create a business page if you don’t already have one.
You can request access if you manage a client’s or another business’s Facebook page. Here’s how to do that:

From your Business Account home page, click “Add Page.”

You’ll see there are three options:
1. Add Page. Choose this if you are the owner of a Facebook business page.
2. Request Access. Choose this if you need access to a client’s page.
3. Create a Page. Choose this if you want to create a page for your business.
Advice: If you are working on a client’s page, always choose “Request Access” rather than “Add Page.” If you add their page to your business account, you can limit access to their page. To avoid putting your client in a discomforting situation, stick with “Request Access” so they can determine the level of access you need to manage their account.
For this guide, let’s assume you’re connecting a page you own rather than acting as an agency or social media manager.
To add a business page to your Business Manager account, follow these three steps:

Click “Add Page.”

Start typing the name of your page in the text box. Find your page, then click “Add Page.”
If you have administrator access to the page, you should have complete access to add it to your Business Manager account.

Finally, if you own or manage any more pages, repeat the previous two steps to add them to your Business Manager account.
Step 3: Create or Connect Your Ad Account
Perform this step carefully because once you add an ad account, you cannot remove it. Add funds you own and use “Request Access” for client accounts.
You can easily link your existing account if you’re already using Facebook Ads.

From the home page in your account dashboard, scroll down and click on “Add Ad Account.”

Choose whether you want to connect your account, request access to a client’s account, or create a new ad account.

When you click “Create Ad Account,” you’ll be asked to choose your account’s time zone, Currency, and name. Enter your preferences and click “Next.”

The next page will ask whether you want to use this for your account or connect to another business/client account. Make your selection, then click “Create.”

You can set permissions and access your new ad account if you have added other team members or managers to your account.

Finally, to use your ad account, you must set up a payment method which you can add by

Remember, every Facebook Business Manager account can have up to 5 ad accounts. You must already be actively spending money with your original ad account to add four additional charges.
To maximize your Facebook marketing, you may want to hire extra help or invite team members to manage your Facebook assets. With Facebook Business Manager, you can assign various roles to people to work on your Facebook business page or your ad account.
Here’s how you can add people to create a powerful marketing team:
1. From the Business Manage home page, click “Business Settings” in the top right corner.
2. Go to “Users” >> “People” then click “+ Add” to assign roles to people.
3. You can assign people with:
a. Employee access – Can work on specific accounts and has limited access.
b. Admin access – Can do anything and has full access to your account(s).
If you open the “Advanced Settings,” you can add the following roles:
c. Finance Analyst – Can see business transactions such as invoices, account spending, and payment methods.
d. Finance Editor – Can update and edit credit card information and financial details like transactions, invoices, etc.
Once you have assigned their role, click “Next.”
4. On the next page, you’ll be able to grant access to your pages, ad accounts, catalogs, and apps. These are the page roles you can assign to users:
a. Page Admin – Can manage the entire page, including assigning new roles to other users.
b. Page Moderator – Can create ads and branded content; view insights; send, respond, and delete messages and comments.
c. Page Analyst – Can manage branded content settings and review insights.
d. Page Editor – Has the same level of access as a “Page Moderator” and can publish content to the page.
e. Page Advertiser – Has the same level of access as a “Page Analyst” and can create ads.
5. After assigning a role for your new user, you can grant or limit access to your billing accounts. These are the roles you can give your users:
a. Ad Account Admin – Has total access to campaigns, can edit billing details, and assign roles to other users.
b. Ad Account Analyst – Only has access to view and report on ad performance.
c. Ad Account Advertiser – Can see, create, and edit ads.
6. When satisfied with your choices, click “Invite.” You’ll have to wait until the new user accepts the invitation before they can start accessing your Facebook assets.
You’ll be able to see pending invitations in your dashboard and can revoke access at any time. Also, if someone leaves your business, you can easily remove them from your accounts by going to “Business Settings” >> “People” and clicking on the name you want to remove.

This might not apply to you now, but you can invite business partners and ad agencies to your account by clicking “Partners.” You’ll need their Business Account ID to ask them to manage your account. You can assign similar roles as you would a user to limit or grant access to your Facebook Business Manager account.
Step 5: Connect Your Instagram Account
Your Facebook assets have been added to your account, and now you can connect your Instagram account (if you have one).

Again, from your Business Manager account’s home page, click on “Business Settings.”

Go to “Instagram Accounts”

Click the “+ Add” then login to your Instagram Account
You’ll receive a notification that your account has been successfully added. You should add an Instagram account if you want to advertise on Instagram.
