Ethernet Not Detected in XP
Windows XP has a tool to help users diagnose common connection problems, but it’s typically used with the help of a Windows XP support team member. Contact Windows XP support (see the link in Resources), then open Microsoft Internet Explorer, select the Tools menu and select “Diagnose Connection Problems.” Then open the Start menu from the bottom-left of your screen, select “Run,” and type the following text into the window that appears:
%windir%\network diagnostic\xpnetdiag.exe
Click OK when you’ve finished typing. Based on the information that appears on your screen, the support staff may advise you to take further steps to solve your connection problem.
