Electric Dirt Bikes
Electric motors have arrived off road! Offering instant torque, electric dirt bikes have been a huge hit with thrill seekers. Unlike petrol counterparts, they are quieter, cleaner (far less oil) and offer technological advantages such as customisation of your ride modes / style through apps.
Are Electric Dirt Bikes Legal in the UK?
Yes, but like any powered moped / motorcycle, if it is being used on the road it requires registration with the DVLA. Not all models are pre-accepted for this process so choose carefully if you’re looking for a daily rider and weekend thriller in one.
Once registered and a number plate fitted, they can be ridden on the road like a normal motorcycle would.
Electric Pit Bike vs Dirt Bike
The main difference between the two is the size. Pit bikes are mini dirt bikes and often used by younger riders. Light weight and agile, they are fun for weaving over dirt tracks. They are also dangerous and rarely road legal.
Dirt Bikes however, are usually for adults and slightly larger and more powerful. Many are multiuse, and can be registered for on-road use as well as off road and achieve top speeds of 30mph and beyond.
