Cisco Networking Academy

The Cisco Networking Academy Program centers on teaching students to design, build,
and maintain small to medium-size computer networks. Farmingdale State College offers
a three-semester sequence of courses leading to the Cisco Certified Network Associate
(CCNA) certification by examination that is administered by Sylvan Prometric.

The program is designed to prepare students with little or no knowledge of networking
concepts for the challenges internet working technicians, administrators, and engineers
face in the 21st-century workplace.

The curriculum is designed to accommodate diverse learning styles by using web technologies,
including text as well as extensive graphics and QuickTime movies. It covers topics
such as basic network protocols to more complex concepts such as subnetting rules
and strategies. Students will also learn how to configure and manage Cisco routers
and switches.
