Cheap Eats In Vegas? The Market Street Cafe Breakfast Buffet – Meemaw Eats

Cheap eats used to be the norm in Las Vegas. Heck, you could find a beatiful shrimp cocktail for a buck! But those days are long gone. Now it takes a real detective to find good food at a reasonable price. But if you’re staying in downtown Las Vegas, I have a suggestion for you. Check out the breakfast buffet at the Market Street Cafe in California Hotel Casino. It’s a deal you don’t want to miss!

In all honesty, we’re not crazy about most buffets. I’m concerned about the sanitary conditions since I have no idea if the other diners have washed their hands or sneezed in the direction of the food. But when in Vegas…all bets are off when it comes to dining. And we were up for a breakfast adventure!

The California Hotel is located only two blocks away from the Golden Nugget Hotel on Fremont Street. During our stay this summer the temperature in Las Vegas was hovering well above 100 degrees…so we were glad to get out of the sun and the heat as quickly as possible after that short walk from our hotel!

The Market Street Cafe breakfast buffet in the California Hotel is served every morning from 6am to 11am.  And the price?

The buffet features scrambled eggs, Portuguese sausage, ham, bacon, corned beef hash, potatoes, rice, biscuits, gravy, pastries and fresh fruit. And the biggest surprise? Coffee or tea is included!

My absolute favorite item on the menu? The amazing, delicious Portuguese sausage!

The blend of spices were absolutely delicious…and worth a second trip through the buffet line!

The pastries were also fresh and flavorful. And the fresh fruit was plentiful and nicely chilled.

Our server was attentive and quick to refill our coffee cups, and the buffet line moved quickly. The staff was also quick to refill the pans so no dish was ever empty on the steam table.

The California Hotel caters to many visitors from Hawaii, and the foods on their full menu highlight many items that are popular in the islands. In fact one of the restaurant specialties is said to be the oxtail soup they only serve from 11pm to 9am. and at $10.99 per bowl I’m guessing it must be pretty darn good!

Yes, it takes some effort to find a good deal on meals in Las Vegas these days. But the Market Street Cafe breakfast buffet is a winner for sure!
