Business Place – SAP Documentation

In some countries, the business place is also used to assign official document numbers to outgoing documents and is therefore the level at which these documents are issued. In most cases, these documents provide information about value-added tax (VAT) or similar tax types.

The business place is an organizational unit below company code level that is primarily used for reporting tax on sales and purchases. In countries where tax on sales and purchases is levied locally, you must post tax below company code level to generate tax returns locally. To do this, you assign your invoices to a business place.

Features

In Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable (FI-CA), the business place is mainly used for the countries Brazil, India, South Korea, and Thailand. If required, you can activate the use of the business place for other countries, for example, Spain.

For official document numbering in FI-CA, the business place is available only for the countries Brazil, Spain, Greece, Philippines, Thailand, and Ukraine. You can enter the business place for these countries when you assign number ranges to company codes and document classes in Customizing for official document numbering.

Note Note

To meet the business requirements for Spain, the official document number must contain the tax regime (mainland or islands). In Customizing, you enter the tax regime in the Business Place field when you assign number ranges to company codes and document classes.

End of the note.
