Business Licensing
The City of Snoqualmie requires a business license for businesses that operate in, engage in, or practice any business in Snoqualmie city limits.
Businesses located within Snoqualmie city limits must have a City of Snoqualmie business license. The license must be posted at the place of business. The fee for a Snoqualmie business license is determined by the number of employees working inside Snoqualmie city limits. Use FileLocal to apply.
Businesses not located within Snoqualmie city limits, but do business in Snoqualmie (such as contractors, sub-contractors, suppliers, and other vendors), are also required to have a Snoqualmie business license. Any person or business whose annual gross receipts within the City of Snoqualmie are $2,000 or less and who does not maintain a place of businesses in Snoqualmie are eligible for a city business license at no cost. Use FileLocal to apply.
Business licenses expire each December 31. Fees are not pro-rated or refundable. A license is non-transferable. A new owner requires a new license.
Renewal notices for business licenses will be mailed at the end of December each year. Notices are not due until February 1, making January a grace period.
Temporary business licenses are required for sales during special events, for roadside sales, and some other cases. Door-to-door sales require completion of the temporary business license. In both cases, please submit a temporary business license application and payment to Debbie Kinsman at [email protected] or mail to Debbie Kinsman, City of Snoqualmie, PO Box 987, Snoqualmie, WA 98065.

UPDATE: B&O Tax Deferment Due to COVID-19
To support the viability of local businesses during the COVID-19 related emergency, the Snoqualmie City Council authorized the Mayor to temporarily defer or extend obligations imposed under Chapter 5.08 of the Snoqualmie Municipal Code relating to business and occupation (B&O) taxes. Therefore, the City Council passed Ordinance 1229 on April 13, 2020. https://www.snoqualmiewa.gov/DocumentCenter/View/32392/Ordinance-1229–Declaring-Emergency-re-B-and-O-Taxes-PDF?bidId= .
As of October 31, 2022, the Washington State of Emergency was ended by the Governor, therefore the City of Snoqualmie has ended its emergency declaration and is transitioning back to the regular B&O tax return submission and payment schedules.
The transition period for B&O tax returns and payments will end as of the first quarter 2023. Business customers should begin providing their first quarter 2023 B&O returns and payments by the due date April 30, 2023. After that time the City of Snoqualmie will require business customers to pay penalties on late B&O tax payments as per SMC 5.08 https://www.codepublishing.com/WA/Snoqualmie/#!/Snoqualmie05/Snoqualmie0508.html#5.08 .
