Business are dynamic is nature and so does the processes that relate to them. The processes carry a lot of importance and can make or break the whole deal for any business out there. And all the process when created equally with synergy, can yield the business system that works with different landscapes and more.

Taking care of the business should be the top priority for any business man and that’s why I am going to discuss the 8 characteristics that help a business to bring the best out of a business system.

A complete business system takes care of all the stakeholders and processes such as customer care, order fulfillment, lead generation and more. The synchronization with the skilled execution of each process is the key here. The main idea is to see the whole ecosystem as one big process and make sure all the sub-processes brings value to the whole system.

8 Characteristics of a Good Business System

1. Customer is the King

Businesses strive for the sole purpose of solving customer’s pain and if a system is not designed according to the customers, then the business will lose time and resource until they make necessary changes to the system. So, always keep customers in mind and harness the business system towards achieving this sole goal.

Create Processes and business system for customers and not for self.

2. What is the best way to do X?

Creativity is the most powerful skill and that’s why settling for less is not an option. To make a system better with time, ask yourself one question, “is the process can be done better?” And, if the answer is yes, find out How you can improve the business system or process.

3. Pushing Towards the Business Objectives

Every business has objectives and moving all the energies towards the objective is what makes any business unique and successful. The system should also flourish for the primary purpose or objective of the business.

You do not want to create a business system that does not collide with the business primary objectives.

4. Accountability

Creating an ecosystem, where each and every person plays an important role in the growth of the business system. To achieve this, business should keep the a check for accountability for each role in the organization.

This will keep sure that someone constantly updates the status of the business system to the owner of the business.

5. Repeatability, Clarity, and Documented

What’s the point of the system that is not repeatable? To gain maximum productivity and leverage automation, a system must be repeatable.

Another important factor for the success of any business system is the clarity of the system in work. Without clear understanding, no one can harness the system and here comes the role of great documentation.

Documentation should always be simple and regularly maintained.

6. Measure Performance Standards

Metrics is important to evaluate a system and the generating regular report to improve business system is something that most of the small to medium scale business ignore.

7. A Feedback System

Feedback are necessary and if the business owner really cares about the business, he/she should take necessary steps to ensure ongoing feedback from all levels of workers. Do not ignore any feedback because there are real people working with the system and no one understands the business system better than them.

Creating an ecosystem that serves best for the business and the employees is what most businesses should thrive in.

8. Identify, Measure and Eliminate Bottlenecks

Any system is made up of different process running at the same time. To gain maximum output, it is necessary that all the sub-processes work in tandem.

The problem arises when a single process or subsystem creates a bottleneck which in turn slows down the whole system.

To achieve maximum efficiency, the system should identify, measure its impact and eliminate the bottleneck as soon as possible.

Any system with no bottleneck will perform a lot better than any system that is carrying bottlenecks.

Conclusion

To create an ecosystem that constantly improves is a life-long endeavor for the business. The recipe for success lies in constantly improvising your business system.
