DIY furniture ideas that you can easily do in a weekend, with plans and step by step process photos
It’s no secret that I’m not a woodworker. Nor do I know how to do anything woodworking related. Not even the math. Actually, especially not the math. Luckily I have Jordan who is always willing to try anything at least once like gutting and redoing an entire bathroom by himself and most recently, creating my dream of both saving money AND making our very own farmhouse dining table.
Because I’m part of a real fabulous group of blogger friends who also shared some projects they built cheaper than they could buy it, I figured I would share some of my favorites with you to also help you if you’re looking for some easy DIY furniture ideas for yourself! You will LOVE these. I mean as long as you love ballin’ on a budget, which you all know I do.
6 Easy DIY Furniture Ideas
This West Elm inspired bookshelf from Megan is a great industrial farmhouse piece that could be used in an office, a bedroom, or a living room. Her plans are super easy to follow!
I love a good West Elm inspired project. You guys should know that because our first try at a designer knockoff we tried was our own West Elm curtain rods and we saved TONS doing that. Ash found this West Elm inspired stool and decided to make it and NAILED IT. Great inexpensive project you can do too!
Ballard Designs must think I’m crazy if I’m going to spend this much for a lamp, but my friend Sherry made her own tripod floor lamp and I am IN LOVE and currently scurrying around my house to find if I can make this work in any of my decor.
I love what Toni did to create her own Crate and Barrel inspired end table. With the clean lines and modern design, you can make this work in any area of your home. You could even make this bigger or smaller to fit your space which is awesome too!
Okay, so while this isn’t necessarily from a giant big box designer store, this is from Ana White and let’s face it, she’s kind of a superstar in the DIY furniture world. Christina’s final outcome of her outdoor hall tree is SUPA stunning and I love it and I know you do too.
Last but not least is this super awesome HomeSense inspired storage basket side table from Casey. Baskets and storage are life when you have kids and furniture that doubles as storage is EXTRA life when you have kids. Or pets. Or pets that are kids.
Did any of you add up how much you saved by doing each of these projects? Because I didn’t and I want to know. Remember? I don’t do math. Let me know if you calculated it in the comments. I’ll be here waiting. In the meantime, don’t forget about pinning this for later!
