Weebly: Best Cheap Website Builder Overall
Weebly
What We Like
- Free-forever plan
- All plans include ecommerce for unlimited products
- Beginner-friendly website editing
- Unlimited bandwidth on all plans
- Built-in SEO features and tools
- Large app marketplace, including dropshipping and marketing integrations
What’s Missing
- Square Online editor for ecommerce sites offers less customization
- Low-tier plans don’t include unlimited storage, unlike GoDaddy and IONOS
- Cheapest paid plan displays ads
- Transaction fees regardless of plan tier
Pricing Overview
- Free-forever plan (including ecommerce) on a Square/Weebly subdomain, with Square branding
- $6 per month for a personal plan with ads (Weebly/Square branding) on your domain
- $12 per month for ad-free paid plan and a free domain for your small business website
- Pay annually, or monthly at a higher rate
Visit Weebly
Weebly is one of the best cheap website builders, especially for ecommerce beginners, thanks to low-cost plans that start for free. While there is a $6 per month personal plan, it still displays Weebly/Square branding.
For business and brand credibility, we recommend you go with the Professional plan at $12 per month when you launch your site. Compared to the Free and Personal plans, the Professional plan includes more tools for marketing and advanced features for online stores. It also comes with a free domain, saving you around $15 a year compared to registering a business domain name separately.
The Weebly Editor (for non-commerce sites) is intuitive and more like a drag-and-drop site builder. It offers more customization than the Square Editor that is used to build ecommerce sites. However, the Square Editor is fairly intuitive, and section-based editing can make for faster website building. See how to build a Weebly site easily in just a few steps.
Weebly Pricing & Features
Weebly is most known for affordable ecommerce. Ecommerce comes on all of its plans, including the Free plan—along with unlimited products. Plus, it has a variety of third-party ecommerce integrations for dropshipping and more advanced features, like marketing, advertising, and for selling on Google, Amazon, and social media. It’s an outstanding choice for small businesses looking to build an online store and grow an ecommerce operation.

*On an annual billing cycle; monthly billing is available at a higher cost
Weebly’s biggest draw is its very cheap ecommerce features and app integrations that are even included on the Free plan. Weebly also has no product limitations, but storage is limited until you subscribe to at least the Professional plan tier.
Aside from limited storage, on the plans below $10 per month, you also have to live with Weebly branding, and transaction fees of 2.9% plus 30 cents per order—not very useful for large sellers. But if you’re just starting out your dropshipping business, its cheap plans are the perfect solution.
The Free plan is hosted on a Weebly subdomain and displays Square and Weebly branding, as does the first paid plan (Personal). This isn’t credible enough for small businesses looking to build brand presence online and establish customer trust and loyalty. We recommend that you subscribe to at least the $12 per month plan when you’re ready to take your website live. It offers more features for marketing and ecommerce, including the ability to sell digital products.
Best Cheap Website Builder for Dropshipping
Weebly doesn’t have a native dropshipping solution. Still, you can easily get around this by integrating a third-party dropshipping app like Ecwid or Spocket. You don’t even have to purchase a paid plan for this, as you can download and integrate apps through the app marketplace on all of Weebly’s plans.
See how easy it is to build a Weebly ecommerce store.
Best Cheap Website Builder for Restaurants
Restaurants just starting to build an online presence should look to Weebly. Not only does ecommerce come free in all plans, these features include tools specific to restaurants. There’s a Square for Restaurants app you can integrate for free or add the popular GloriaFood restaurant app to any plan for free to get online ordering and reservations management, display custom menus, and more.
Find out why Weebly tops our list of the best restaurant site builders.
Our Expert Opinion
Weebly can scale affordably with your business as its most expensive small business plan is only $26 per month—much cheaper than many of the best ecommerce platforms available. Weebly does have a more expensive plan at $72 per month, but it only adds real-time shipping and a slightly smaller transaction fee (2.6% plus 30 cents per order)—not worth it, in our opinion. To learn more, read our full Weebly review.

- No dropshipping, unlike Weebly

Visit IONOS
IONOS may not be a popular name in the U.S., but it’s the largest web host in Europe and the cheapest website builder for small businesses on a budget. It’s beginner-friendly—on the cheapest plan are 18 template designs to choose from and a section-based editor (called MyWebsite Now) that makes it difficult to mess up your website.
IONOS also has reliable features, like robust search engine optimization (SEO) and analytics. Among the ways your IONOS site will be optimized for search and success is that every plan includes a personal consultant to help you get the most out of your site. Sites enjoy Google PageSpeed optimization and are served up from IONOS’ worldwide content delivery network (CDN) for fast site loading time from anywhere, on any device.
IONOS Plus and Pro plans also start at $10 a month or less the first year. They come with a far more sophisticated site editor (MyWebsite Creator), more templates, and a long list of advanced capabilities. Plus, there’s a great blogging feature that will help your business grow despite being on a tight budget.
IONOS Pricing & Features
IONOS’ cheap website builder plans come with a free domain and SSL certificate, similar to other plans. However, uniquely, they also come with a free business email address on your domain. Also unique to IONOS is the inclusion of native email marketing tools. With any plan, you can add an online store.

*Renews after 1 year at $5, $10, and $15, respectively
Unfortunately, IONOS doesn’t have a free plan or a free trial. You’ll have to commit to at least one year to test it out. However, at $12 for the entire first year, this won’t exactly break the bank.
Cheapest Website for Small Businesses
IONOS low-cost paid plans make it the cheapest website builder on this list as it relates to paid plans. Starting at just $1 per month and increasing to just $5 after the first year, you get a free domain name, email address, and SSL certificate. For the introductory price of $1, you even get ecommerce in the Starter plan, though IONOS doesn’t have dropshipping features.
If you choose the $5 per month Plus plan (renews at $10 without ecommerce or $20 per month with ecommerce), you get the more customizable website editor, MyWebsite Creator. You also get access to pretty great blogging features, which is one of the reasons IONOS made our next update to the best blog hosting platforms. Blog features include article categories, a built-in search function, comments on blog posts, and solid analytics.
On this plan, you can also access third-party integrations, which tremendously increase your site’s functionality. For example, you can download integrations for a booking and appointment system and customer management. You can also edit your site with HTML and CSS, and with IONOS’ Intelligent Personalization, a feature that displays your site’s content differently based on the user that views it, the time of day, and other factors you set up.
Our Expert Opinion
What IONOS offers in its Starter plan isn’t groundbreaking, but we didn’t expect it considering the super-cheap $1 price point. But what it does have is solid and will allow any small business (even on an extreme budget) to build a professional site that can scale. Plus, you can get much more design flexibility and a slew of advanced tools and features for just a few more dollars per month.

- All plans include free SSL, HTML editing, and multilingual websites
- No transaction fees
- SEO and social media integration in all plans
- Mozello API for third-party app integration (except on the Free plan)
What’s Missing
- Low storage limits on the free plan
- PayPal is the only payment option, except on the highest tier
- Small product limits; Weebly provides unlimited products on all plans
- Discount codes and customizable emails only on the most expensive plan
- Small number of apps for integration, unlike Weebly and HubSpot
Pricing Overview
- Free-forever plan for up to 5 products
- $8 per month for up to 15 products and a free domain
- $18 per month for unlimited products, storage, digital products, and payment options beyond PayPal
- No transaction fees on any plan

Visit Mozello
Mozello is a beginner-friendly site builder geared toward ecommerce. It’s the best cheap website builder for those selling internationally thanks to multilingual websites (even in the free version).
All of its plans, including the Free one, have ecommerce functionality and the ability to take payments via PayPal, cash on delivery, and bank transfers (plus wire transfers from the EU). As a bonus, all have a multilingual feature that supports more than 60 languages.
Mozello’s templates are modern, and it’s one of the most intuitive cheap website builders we’ve tested. This makes it easy to get your ecommerce store online quickly, even for true web design beginners. Learn how to build your own Mozello store in just five steps.
Mozello Pricing & Features
Mozello’s list of features may not be the most advanced, but what they’re built for, they do well. Though Mozello’s plans below $10 have product limitations (such as a limit to how many products you can sell, and no digital product deliveries), they have absolutely no transaction fees. At $18 a month for the highest-plan tier, advanced features are also cheap with Mozello.

Built for Selling Internationally
As we mentioned prior, Mozello’s plans come with a pretty great multilingual feature to translate your content and help you appeal to more customers or even break into a new market. Coupled with their payment options, Mozello is a good gateway for small sellers looking to expand their business internationally.
Our Expert Opinion
Mozello is a basic editor that does its—admittedly limited—job well. For slightly larger sellers, we’d recommend Weebly over Mozello for unlimited products alone. However, Mozello’s multilingual feature, no transaction fees, and varied payment options on its $10-and-below plans make it a great option for small businesses testing out the waters of ecommerce, or sellers trying to enter a new market.

GoDaddy: Best Cheap Site Builder for Service-based Businesses
GoDaddy
What We Like
- Free-forever plan
- Very beginner-friendly and intuitive
- Appointment booking, chatbots, and unlimited storage/bandwidth on all plans
- Very beginner-friendly and intuitive
- Compared to Weebly, transaction fees are lower, as are first-year costs for advanced ecommerce (e.g., abandoned carts and real-time shipping rates)
- Email marketing with all paid plans
- Free GoDaddy Studio to help you create branded content
- Connect and post to Google, Yelp, and social media profiles
What’s Missing
- Templates are preselected for you
- Limited ability to customize your template or site
- No third-party app store, unlike Weebly and IONOS
Pricing Overview
- Free-forever plan (GoDaddy subdomain and branding) includes appointment booking tools and chatbots
- $9.99 per month to connect your domain
- The cheapest plan includes a booking system for one-time appointments, unlimited storage and bandwidth, and basic email marketing
- To get selling capabilities, you’ll need to upgrade to its $16.99 commerce plan
- Pay annually, or pay monthly at a higher rate
- First-year annual billing renews at a higher rate after the first year
Visit GoDaddy
GoDaddy tops our list as the best cheap website builder for small businesses needing a reliable booking and appointment system. It’s not the cheapest website builder, but its professional plans are affordable, coming in under $10 the first year on an annual billing cycle. It has a great mix of user-friendliness and features, enough that it ranks among the best small business website builders available.
GoDaddy’s website builder is among the easiest to use, especially for beginners. A template is chosen for you during setup, but it’s easy to change the look of your site by changing its theme and setting site-wide parameters for color schemes and fonts. The section-based site builder is very intuitive and probably one of the easiest we’ve reviewed. See how easy it is to build a GoDaddy website in just five steps.
GoDaddy Website Builder Pricing & Features
Like Weebly, we recommend that you only use the Free plan when building your website. Otherwise, your site will be hosted on a GoDaddy subdomain and display GoDaddy branding, which simply isn’t credible for building your brand online. Notably, appointment booking tools and chatbots come with all plans, as does free SSL security to keep your customer’s data safe.

*On an annual billing cycle; renews at $11.99, $21.99, $24.99, and $44.99, respectively
GoDaddy’s Basic plan, which used to offer $6.99 introductory first year pricing, now comes in right at our limit, at $9.99 per month. Apples to apples, for those needing appointment booking, IONOS Plus and Pro plans are a better value, especially since GoDaddy site builder plans don’t include a free domain.
Likewise, those wanting advanced ecommerce will find that Weebly isn’t the cheapest option for the first year, but will be over the long term. One thing GoDaddy website builder users will appreciate, however, is the inclusion of email marketing tools and the ability to create and manage Yelp pages, Google Business Profiles, and social media posting right from the dashboard.
If you’re a small ecommerce business, we recommend checking out Weebly or Mozello for ecommerce plans under $10. But if you’re just looking to set up a small business website for cheap, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a more robust option than GoDaddy’s Basic plan.
Reliable Booking & Appointments System
GoDaddy has one of the best booking features we’ve ever seen, with one time appointments included on even the Free plan. Of course, if you’re looking to build a professional website for your small, service-based business, you’ll want to upgrade to at least the first paid plan for no ads. Unfortunately, at this price point you won’t be able to take recurring appointments or payments for them—that requires a Commerce or Commerce Plus subscription.
Great Marketing Tools
To grow your service-based business will require a suite of marketing tools. Thankfully, GoDaddy includes several features to make your work easier. All of its paid plans come with email marketing features, a video creation tool, and the GoDaddy Studio, a graphic design and editing app that lets you create branded content to share.
GoDaddy makes social sharing easy to do as well. Starting in the first paid plan, GoDaddy integrates with Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter so you can schedule and share posts right from your GoDaddy dashboard.
Our Expert Opinion
GoDaddy has a basic editor and not much customizability, but as a trade-off, it’s extremely beginner-friendly and affordable. Not only do you get unlimited storage and bandwidth on all plans, but you also get a glimpse of its booking features on both the free and cheapest plan with one-time appointments.

- Over 200 templates available
- Countless integrations through WordPress plugins
- Shared Unlimited plan includes a free domain, SSL, and unlimited websites, storage, bandwidth, and email addresses for just $2.95/month
- Automatic daily backups
What’s Missing
- No free trial or free plan (though you can test out the editor via BoldGrid)
- Shared Unlimited plan goes slightly above the $10 budget upon renewal, as does GoDaddy
- WordPress learning curve—much more difficult than all-in-one site builders like Weebly and IONOS
- Takes more time to build a site as plugins need to be vetted for features, reliability, and compatibility
Pricing Overview
- $2.95 for shared WordPress hosting (renews at $6.99 after the first year) for one website, free domain, unlimited bandwidth, site builder, and free site migrations
- $2.95 per month (renews at $12.99 after the first year) to add unlimited websites and emails on your domain
- Monthly, 1-year, and 3-year plans are available; pricing above is with 1-year annual billing

The low-cost plans DreamHost offers for WordPress users are impressive. However, keep in mind that these aren’t likely to be your only costs to build WordPress website. For example, if you want a premium theme, that can run anywhere from $50 to $100 or more.
Depending on what type of functionality you are looking for, you may need to purchase premium themes at a one-time or monthly cost. Website images aren’t included in your plan as they are with IONOS, so artwork and graphics may cost you more as well.
Easiest Way to Build a Cheap WordPress Website
Every DreamHost WordPress hosting plan, including the cheapest shared hosting plan, comes with WordPress pre-installed, core and security updates managed for you, and a WordPress drag-and-drop builder called BoldGrid. Despite not having a free trial or free plan on DreamHost, you can head to BoldGrid’s site and try it out for free before committing to a DreamHost plan.
This is undoubtedly the easiest way to create a WordPress site without having to learn any code. BoldGrid’s drag-and-drop builder allows you to create and edit any WordPress theme, and aside from premade blocks, it has advanced controls and CSS editing. The only thing you have to worry about is integrating plugins that may not be compatible with one another.
While DreamHost offers an easier way to build a site on WordPress, there’s still going to be a learning curve. For example, you’ll need to install and manage plugins for nearly all functionality, including website security and protection from hackers and malware. Learn all that’s involved in our list of WordPress tips and tricks.
Our Expert Opinion
DreamHost’s builder makes WordPress completely beginner-friendly and accessible due to its price. We highly recommend purchasing at least the WordPress Unlimited plan with unlimited websites, storage, and professional emails.

- Multilingual sites, even on the Free plan
- Enterprise level sales and marketing tools, SEO, and reporting in an affordable site builder
- Large app marketplace of free and premium apps to extend functionality

- Not as beginner-friendly as GoDaddy or Weebly
- Huge jump in cost of paid plans after the first tier
- Plans don’t include a free domain, unlike all others on this list
- Get dynamic content on IONOS in plans from $5 per month, compared to $360 with HubSpot
Pricing Overview
- Completely free way to build a website (provided you own a domain)
- $23 per month (annually) or $25 monthly to increase to limits to 50 pages and 10,000 blog posts, remove HubSpot branding, and get 10 dashboards with 10 reports each
- $360 per month annually, or $400 monthly to raise limits for several features and get access to dynamic content
Visit HubSpot
HubSpot’s free content management system (CMS) made our list of the best cheap website builders. Despite its paid plans starting at $23 per month, it’s the only site builder here that allows you to connect a custom domain and build a free website using its site builder. So for the cost of a domain ($12 to $15 per year), you can get access to HubSpot’s enterprise-quality sales and marketing tools to build your brand online.
None of its premium plans is below $10 per month, but its Free plan integrates with all of HubSpot’s free tools, covering extra features in marketing and sales. This makes HubSpot a great choice to consider for businesses looking to generate leads.
For sales-oriented businesses, HubSpot is also the best cheap site builder. In addition to building your site for free, you can integrate HubSpot’s customer relationship management (CRM) software for free as well. This allows for an all-in-one solution for lead generation, lead nurturing, and customer loyalty and retention through customer support.
HubSpot CMS Pricing & Features
Unlike the free plans offered by GoDaddy and Weebly, HubSpot’s free website builder is a credible way to get your brand online. You can connect your own domain and use the intuitive site builder completely free until your site exceeds 25 pages and 100 blog posts. Both the Free and Starter plans also include 20 HubSpot-branded landing pages, but the Starter plan provides ample limits of 50 pages and up to 10,000 blog posts.

Integrate HubSpot Sales & Marketing Features
HubSpot’s wealth of free tools makes the HubSpot CMS a top contender for businesses that want to grow quickly. The CRM makes it a great option for business-to-business companies of all sizes looking for robust, scalable lead generation and management software they can start with for free.
Not only does HubSpot offer enterprise-grade search engine optimization (SEO) features, it also goes beyond the basics and has features like ad management and retargeting, live chat, and bots. These are just a few of the marketing tools as well; HubSpot also offers tools for sales, customer service, content management, and operations. With the CMS, you also get a fairly large third-party app marketplace, though on the Free plan you’ll only be able to integrate apps and themes.
Our Expert Opinion
HubSpot is a fantastic free website builder option, but could be challenging for an absolute beginner who needs a step-by-step breakdown of how to build a website from scratch. Still, for marketing, sales, and customer relationship tools, HubSpot is the best there is. While not under $10, $23 for the most basic premium plan is still affordable for a small business, and gives you the tools you need to grow.

Though inexpensive, if a website builder doesn’t have adequate features to back it up, it still isn’t worth the money. To rank these builders, we looked at general features like storage and bandwidth and whether they offer decent SEO and email marketing.

Though they may serve similar functions, all-in-one site builders are not all built the same. Some have outstanding niche features, like advanced ecommerce offerings and built-in booking and reservations. We judged these site builders based on their unique offerings and how good they are when compared to the competition.

Website builders make it easy for beginners to design their own website. You may not be a professional designer, but a huge part of the appeal of a builder is that you can do it yourself. As such, we looked at the website builders available and judged them according to their selection of templates, how easy the site editing tools are to use, and the overall design quality you can expect.

Customer support may not be at the forefront of a user’s mind when choosing a website builder, but timely customer service is always a huge bonus for when you run into problems. It’s not only helpful to have a slew of ways to contact your chosen site builder, but we also looked at the quality of support given. It also helps if there are other ways—such as blogs, knowledge bases, or forums—you can reach out to, just in case.

Finally, we took into consideration our professional experience and years of building websites, and ranked each of the website builders according to how well they performed as we were using them.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Can I use a free site builder for my business website?
Most free website builder plans aren’t appropriate for business use because they host your website on subdomains (e.g., yourcompany.sitebuilder.com). In addition, free plans display ads on your site, further detracting from your brand. But free plans like GoDaddy’s and Weebly’s offer an ideal way to see what type of website design you can achieve before committing to a paid plan. Alternatively, you can use HubSpot’s free site builder and connect your own domain.
What is the cheapest website builder?
IONOS is the cheapest website builder for basic business websites and ecommerce sites, especially for the first year. Plans start at $1 per month and include a free domain, SSL data encryption (HTTPS), and email addresses on your domain. Even though HubSpot’s CMS is technically cheaper (you can start for free), the cost of your domain will probably be more than IONOS’ Starter plan.
What is the easiest & cheapest way to build a website?
While you can get a cheap website using any of the site builders listed above, two additional contenders to consider for cheap websites are Wix and Squarespace. While they don’t have plans starting under $10 per month, they arguably pack the most value into their paid plans.
Their plans all include a free domain and SSL as well as hosting. Plus, with Wix’s lowest business ecommerce plan, you get advanced design tools, hundreds of easily integrated apps and robust ecommerce, appointment booking, online ordering, and more. When you’re ready to launch your site, we highly recommend upgrading to the $12 per month plan to significantly bump up those features.
Weebly’s generous plans and built-in tools will give your business enough room to grow. It even has a free plan, so you can test it out thoroughly.
