Most people would perhaps be pretty skeptical of buying mobile phones from stores now after that whole mobile phone scam that occurred at Sim Lim Square lately and would prefer to buy from telcos. While it is safer to buy from them, you probably would also want to get the cheapest phone if possible right?

But telcos often have their prices jacked up slightly higher than normal stores which makes you wonder whether it is worth it paying so much more just for a peace of mind. Now with this list, you can save some money on buying your new phone and be assured that you didn’t get scammed.

All price comparisons are made between SingTel’s iPhone 6S 16GB (unlocked and no contract) and a brand new iPhone 6S 16GB from the below-listed stores. Prices are based off of each retailer’s online store.

MobyShop

MobyShop is one of the many stores that sell mobile phones in Far East Plaza. Compared to many other similar stores in the mall, MobyShop not only looks the best, it also has some of the best deals. It was also recommended by Yahoo! Finance as one of the cheapest mobile phone stores. For those who prefer shopping online, they also have an online shop as well.

SingTel VS. MobyShop: $1,148 VS. $925 (Rose Gold +$20)

Where: 14 Scotts Road, Far East Plaza, #02-52, Singapore 228213
Opening hours: 2pm to 9pm (daily)

WhyMobile Telecommunications

As opposed to MobyShop, WhyMobile looks a lot dodgier but the deal you get here is exactly the same as the former. However, like many retailers who abide by the supply and demand law, their Rose Gold iPhone 6S is $20 more than the other colours. They also have an online store.

Mobile Square

Look, yet another dodgy mobile phone store in Far East Plaza. Yup, Mobile Square is identical to the first two options. Many people on local forums have put their faith in Mobile Square and were not disappointed by the service and prices.

Red White Mobile

Red White Mobile claims to be Singapore’s cheapest phone shop ever and while it is most likely not the cheapest, it is one of the most affordable stores. The store updates its phone prices daily in order to provide their customers with the best deals. Their service staff are also friendly and helpful, as mentioned by a few locals in the Hardware Zone forums.

J2 Mobile

Although the price for the Rose Gold coloured iPhone 6S is quite a bit more compared to other stores at $950, you don’t have to worry about it being reliable or not. The store is a licensed by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) as a retailer for mobile phones. Think of it as paying a small sum of two bucks more for a peace of mind.
