Here are the top PC party games that will give your guests the time of their lives!

There’s something special about game nights. In this case, even the most bizarre titles get a pass as long as they provide a lot of fun. With that thought in mind, we created a list of the most fun titles that will make your friends laugh their heads off or annoy them if they are sore losers.

We also divided our picks into five categories to make browsing through easier. However, we realize some of the best PC party games may still not make it to our cut. Luckily, you can share your personal favorites in the comments!

Co-op party games

Team up with your pals with these madly entertaining co-ops that also include some of the best local party games on pc.

Overcooked 2 (Included with PC Game Pass)

Any list of the best party video games 2022 wouldn’t be complete without Overcooked 2, a positively chaotic co-op that puts many relationships to the test. The second entry to the series builds upon the mechanics of its predecessor, making it even more enjoyable. Moreover, in addition to couch co-op, it supports online multiplayer, unlike the first installment.

Similar to the first game, it casts players as cooks who have to prepare dishes and serve them to awaiting customers. It only sounds easy, as there are often many challenges you must face, for example, collapsing floors, ever-changing kitchens, and the clumsiness of player 2. Overall, it’s a fun title, but you have to arm yourself with patience, as some levels can get on your nerves.

We have an ideal offer if you’d like to try Overcooked 2 but don’t want to buy the game at its full price. This title, and many more, is available on the PC Game Pass, a Microsoft subscription service that gives you access to the ever-growing library of games. For new members, the first month costs only $1, so we consider it a pretty good deal.

Moving Out

In Moving Out, you take on the role of removals specialists in the company with the graceful name F.A.R.T. The game offers a fun co-op mode, which up to four players can enjoy. During the playthrough, you complete tasks in many locations, from suburban houses to haunted mansions. However, the defining feature of the title is the physics system. Throwing furniture out of the windows or tossing them over the pool is nothing unusual.

Moreover, you can adjust the game’s difficulty as you please, so you can play with less skilled friends. Nonetheless, you’re in for some crazy gameplay!

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes

Another pick on our list is Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes. Its title perfectly sums up the premise, as one player tries to defuse a bomb with the help of instructions from others. However, the task is not as simple as it seems because only one person can see the bomb, so effective communication is the key to success.

Moreover, the puzzles are procedurally generated, so you won’t easily get bored. As you progress, they also increase in difficulty. Hence, there is no need to worry that the mission becoming too easy. It’s worth mentioning that you only need one copy of the game to play, and the manual for experts is available for free.

The Trine series

When writing about the best party games on PC, we couldn’t forget the beloved Trine series, platformers with physics-based puzzles. There are currently four installments, and all of them, besides the third one, are rendered in 2.5D.

Looking at the games, it’s impossible not to notice their breathtaking visuals. However, the gameplay is on point as well. You’ll encounter a variety of puzzles throughout the game that you can solve by utilizing the unique skills of the heroes, Zoya the Thief, Pontius the Knight, and Amadeus the Wizard. In the latest entry, Prince Selius joins the crew, allowing for a co-op of up to 4 players instead of 3 as in previous ones.

That’s the last title for this category, but if you’re seeking more recommendations, check out our article on the best couch co-op games that will provide you with hours of fun.

Multiplayer party games

For those that believe that the more, the merrier, here’s our list of top multiplayer party games on PC.

Ultimate Chicken Horse

The next pick on our list presents an interesting take on platformer games. In Ultimate Chicken Horse, the goal is very simple—reach the finish line. The twist is that the players construct the level by placing traps, obstacles, and platforms to make the task easier for themselves and more difficult for their opponents.

Thanks to that, you can really go wild with the design, building levels that are nearly impossible to pass. All in all, we think that it’s one of the best party games on Steam.

Speedrunners

Speedrunners is an exciting alternative to ordinary racing games that casts players as superheroes. To win the competition, you have to outwit your friends using missiles, mines, and grappling hooks. However, you also must be aware of the surroundings, as each map contains traps and obstacles that may slow you down.

The game is mainly intended for multiplayer, providing both local and online play. But there’s the possibility to compete with opponents controlled by AI if you want to practice before clashing against your buddies.

The Jackbox Party Pack

We couldn’t omit this franchise when compiling a list of noteworthy party games on Steam. As for 2022, there are 9 installments in the series, each with a different set of minigames.

The latest entry, the Jackbox Party Pack 9, provides players with 5 titles, including Nonsensory, a drawing guessing game, or Fibbage 4, which will put your knowledge and bluffing skills to the test. Also, you don’t have to worry about too few controllers, as every player can use their smartphone or tablet to play. Sounds neat, right? It’s definitely a must-buy for those who love hosting game nights.

Among Us (Included with PC Game Pass)

Among Us wasn’t an immediate hit after its release. However, when it finally gained global popularity, it was ubiquitous on every corner of the Internet. But what’s this simple but addictive game all about?

The players take on the role of crewmates on a spaceship, fulfilling various tasks. But, within their group, there’s always at least one impostor who wreaks havoc on board. This title will not only put your bluffing skills to the test but also ruin some friendships.

It’s worth mentioning that Among Us doesn’t need much when it comes to system requirements. If this is the most important criteria for you, here’s our list of the best games that run on budget laptops.

Free party games on PC

You don’t need to look far in order to find numerous free party games on PC. Who said you need to splurge to have some fun?

Rocket League

Despite being a paid title in the past, you can now download Rocket League from the Epic Games Store at no additional cost. As far as the genre goes, it’s arcade-style soccer but with vehicles instead of ordinary players.

Besides the standard mode, offering 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 online matches, there are also special ones, such as basketball-inspired Hoops. With a plethora of customization options, cross-platform progression, and fast-paced action, Rocket League is a gem among multiplayer games.

We also had to highlight that the title supports local play, which allows two players to enjoy it on one monitor. If that’s the feature you’re looking for, read our article on the top split-screen PC games.

Fall Guys

Similarly to the previous title, Fall Guys went free-to-play on the Epic Games Store after some time. It’s a battle royale free party game that lets you compete against 59 other players in different challenges.

There are obstacle courses, soccer matches, survival rounds, and more! However, only the last man standing can win and get the crown. The game offers various customization options, from nameplates to costumes for your little, wobbly character. Moreover, it supports cross-play, so don’t worry if your friends would rather play on other platforms.

Brawlhalla

Brawlhalla is an obvious choice for fans of platform fighting games. It features online and local multiplayer with up to eight players, supporting full crossplay with other platforms. Of course, there are plenty of modes to choose from.

If you feel like it, you can try your hand at ranked matches to climb to the top. When having fun is your main priority, nothing stops you from inviting your pals for a brawling session, the rules for which are fully established by you. It’s also important to note that the game is frequently updated. Hence, you can expect fresh new content to enhance the experience further.

MultiVersus

The last title from this section is another platform fighter. But the feature distinguishing it from similar games is the cast of much-loved characters. MultiVersus includes a plethora of heroes from the Warner Bros. catalog, such as Batman, Bugs Bunny, and Shaggy. And there’s nothing more thrilling than seeing this clash of iconic universes.

Add cross-platform play, different modes, and colorful maps, and you have the fighting game of your dreams. Moreover, it supports local and online multiplayer, but whichever you choose, you and your buddies will have a lot of fun.

Fighting party games

Punch, kick and knock out your guests! It’s time for epic (and friendly) rivalry with these fantastic fighting party games.

Towerfall: Ascension

Towerfall: Ascension takes a unique approach to fighting games by focusing on battles that involve archers. Naturally, your main goal is to eliminate other players during the match. Besides your impeccable combat skills, you can also use treasure chests with power-ups to your advantage.

As old-school productions inspire the game, there’s only local multiplayer available, which might be disappointing for some. However, if you’re not the biggest fan of competitive gameplay, you can try Quest Mode. You can play it alone or with a friend to battle various foes across Towerfall’s land. Without a doubt, it’s one of the best party games on PC.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl

If Nickelodeon TV shows hold a special place in your heart, this platform brawler might be right up your alley. Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl will let you fight as your favorite childhood characters from animated series, such as SpongeBob Square Pants or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Each hero is characterized by their own set of strengths and weaknesses, so you’ll surely find one that suits your playstyle. Moreover, as you progress, you unlock special moves that will make you unbeatable. You can participate in battles with up to three players. Both local and online play is supported, which is a big plus.

The Nidhogg series

We reckon this pick is one of the most interesting ones on our list. The Nidhogg series focuses on two-player melee fights. The main goal is to reach the end of the arena, but on our way stands the ever-respawning enemy. Battles are crisp and fast-paced, and often, a mere second may decide the success of your attack.

In the first installment, Nidhogg, players can only use the sword, and the graphics are rather simple and minimalistic. However, it changes in the sequel, which provides detailed pixel art and a variety of weapons, including bows and axes.

Gang Beasts (Included with PC Game Pass)

If you’re looking for more fun games to play with your friends on PC, you should definitely consider this one! In Gang Beasts, you engage in melee battles with your pals as funky, gelatinous characters. You can kick and hit your opponents or use more sophisticated methods, such as throwing them from platforms or pushing them straight onto traps.

On top of that, there are various environments you can fight in, such as speeding trucks or scaffolding. It’s unquestionably one of the titles that will make you laugh while playing.

Sports party games

You don’t need splendid weather, a backyard, or a park to play these sports party video games.

Sportsfriends

Sportsfriends is a compilation of four local multiplayer games inspired by different sports. The first one, BaraBariBall, combines volleyball and fighting. In Hokra, players are small squares on the map, and their goal is to take over the ball and throw it into the opponent’s end zone.

In Super Pole Riders, the task is to move the ball to the contender’s side by soaring into the air using a pole. However, the most original one is probably Johann Sebastian Joust, which is a more face-to-face experience, requiring Playstation Move controllers to play. Sadly, it doesn’t work on Windows; only Linux and Mac are supported. Overall, it’s an interesting collection of games that provide varied gameplay.

Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure

Another title in our lineup of fun party games on Steam is a chaotic Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure. As you can probably guess from its name, the title will allow you to experience a slightly wacky version of dodgeball.

During the playthrough, you must eliminate your opponents by hitting them twice with a ball or different object on the court. In addition to participating in local matches with up to four players, you can play a story mode solo or in co-op. We can assure you that the campaign is definitely worth looking into, as it’s brimming with humor.

Turbo Golf Racing (Included with PC Game Pass)

Turbo Golf Racing is very similar to Rocket League, but instead of soccer, it’s inspired by golf. During the matches, players race, rolling the giant ball in front of them, trying to get it to the hole. The key to winning is knowing the ins and outs of each map, as they often contain secret tunnels that can help you outsmart other players.

Moreover, as you progress, you unlock power cores that not only increase your vehicle’s performance but also let you attack others with special abilities. Although the game was released in Early Access, it already contains a massive amount of content. And it’ll probably constantly surprise us with new features.

Mount Your Friends

Well, if you and your buddies are especially fond of the competitive side of gaming, why not challenge them to a round of Mount Your Friends? The rules are simple: you take turns climbing each other, trying to reach the highest position.

At first glance, the game may seem a bit goofy with wonky characters and physics. However, you won’t regret it if you choose to play it on Friday evening. Its simplicity and low entry threshold allow you to relax and have mindless fun after a hard day at work.
